His remarks were made during his speech at the ceremony commemorating the 78th Martyrs\u2019 Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJust like the legendary Martyrs, the new generation of courageous youth today have sacrificed much \u2014 their lives, bodies, blood, and sweat \u2014 and have continued to persevere unwaveringly to this day. They are still striving, without regard to place of birth, ethnicity, or state\/region boundaries, with a unified vision for the liberation of the entire country, to uproot the dictatorship from every corner of the nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>2. Ko Htein Lin: General Aung San\u2019s Political Vision for Equality Remains Alive Today<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 20<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although General Aung San was assassinated just months before Myanmar\u2019s independence in 1947, his dream and political vision \u2014 of a country where all people, regardless of race, religion, or social class, are equal \u2014 remains alive and influential today, said Kim Aris, also known as Ko Htein Lin, in a recorded commemorative message sent for the 78th Martyrs\u2019 Day ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday is a day to solemnly honour and bow in respect to General Aung San and all the Martyrs who bravely stood united, including ethnic nationalities, for the independence of Myanmar. Their sacrifice \u2014 giving up their lives \u2014 laid the foundation for a free and peaceful Myanmar,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ko Htein Lin also shared that although he never had the chance to personally know General Aung San, his grandfather, he grew up hearing about him through his mother and family members, and felt a deep sense of familiarity and connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo them, my grandfather was not only a national hero but also a man of steadfast courage and moral strength. My mother, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, carried on his beliefs and responsibilities, dedicating her life to justice, human rights, and democracy. She often reminded us: \u2018Never let fear stand in the way of doing what is right,\u2019\u201d he said in the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The message closed with deep respect and homage not only to General Aung San and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, but also to all those who continue to fight and make sacrifices for Myanmar\u2019s freedom \u2014 affirming that their values and beliefs remain alive, and expressing hopes for the swift arrival of a truly free and peaceful Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>3. Political Prisoner U Pyae Sone Aung Dies in Thathon Prison; Authorities Cremate Body Same Day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 20<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>U Pyae Sone Aung, executive member of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Bilin Township, Mon State, who was serving a prison sentence in Thathon Prison, died suddenly around 1 p.m. on July 19. Authorities reportedly cremated his body at 4:52 p.m. the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He had reportedly experienced shortness of breath around 11 a.m. and requested medication from prison authorities, but due to inadequate medical care, he passed away two hours later. No official post-mortem or autopsy was conducted, and his body was immediately cremated by prison officials in the afternoon, sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also reported that between July 12 and 13, U Pyae Sone Aung and several other political prisoners were taken from their cells and subjected to beatings and torture by prison officials. One political prisoner was subsequently sent to an emergency medical facility due to the severity of the injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>U Pyae Sone Aung served as the NLD\u2019s Information and Communications Officer in Bilin Township and had been sentenced to six years in prison under various political charges, including Section 505(a) by the military junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>4.
