July 18<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A military naval convoy ascending the Irrawaddy River fired continuous artillery, including point-defense weapons and heavy arms, at villages along the river in Singu and Wetlet Townships of Mandalay Region, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fleet consisted of 5 attack vessels<\/strong> and 7 support\/logistics boats<\/strong>, and had anchored on the eastern bank of Wetlet Township near Kyauk Hcha<\/strong> on July 17<\/strong> before continuing upstream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before proceeding further, at around 7:45 AM today (July 18)<\/strong>, the fleet fired indiscriminately with point-defense weapons into the surrounding areas and then moved on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the fleet proceeded, a Y-12 aircraft<\/strong> was seen flying from Tada-U, conducting bombing runs along the river. Simultaneously, weapons\u2014both heavy and light\u2014were fired from the vessels at nearby villages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday afternoon (July 17), as the fleet passed through Wetlet Township, airstrikes were conducted<\/strong> by military aircraft on Yelaymaw, Shar Kwe, and Ngapatchaung<\/strong> villages, killing 15 civilians<\/strong>, according to local news reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This morning (July 18) at around 7 AM<\/strong>, another Y-12 aircraft<\/strong> from Tada-U dropped bombs on Yelaymaw Village<\/strong> in Wetlet Township, and also conducted aerial attacks on Htone Gyi Village<\/strong> in Singu Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 2. Airstrikes Carried Out Near Kyaukme Without Any Ongoing Battle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

July 18<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite no active fighting near Kyaukme<\/strong>, a town in northern Shan State<\/strong>, the military carried out airstrikes again at around 10 AM<\/strong> today (July 18), according to local residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack targeted Kyu Shaw Myauk Village<\/strong>, where three bombs<\/strong> were dropped from fighter jets<\/strong>, according to a local source.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, three houses were hit<\/strong>\u2014one completely destroyed\u2014and an elderly civilian was injured<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents note that casualties were low because people were out picking tea leaves at the time. They said that had the strike occurred on a public holiday like Buddhist Sabbath (Uposatha)<\/strong>, the consequences could have been far worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite no fighting in the township, the military has launched at least 8 airstrikes<\/strong> between June 24 and July 18<\/strong>, killing at least 8 civilians<\/strong>, according to Shwe Phi Myay News Agency<\/strong>, which monitors the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyaukme Township, under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)<\/strong>, has faced the highest frequency of aerial assaults among TNLA-held territories. TNLA has since issued warnings urging civilians in their areas to remain alert to airstrike threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 3. Mobile Clinic Head Killed by Military Gunfire in Karenni While Providing Healthcare<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A mobile clinic coordinator<\/strong> from the Karenni Mobile Health Committee (KnMHC)<\/strong> was killed by gunfire from the military junta<\/strong> while delivering healthcare services in local communities, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health under the National Unity Government (NUG).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The victim, Soe Reh<\/strong>, aged 26<\/strong>, was conducting field healthcare activities for locals on July 14<\/strong> when he was fatally shot by junta troops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soe Reh had completed a one-year Medic training course<\/strong> with KnMHC in August 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NUG’s Ministry of Health recognized Soe Reh as a martyr and national hero<\/strong>, stating their shared grief with his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the coup, junta violence has led to the deaths of 133 healthcare workers<\/strong>, including those participating in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM)<\/strong>, and left 135 others injured<\/strong>, according to NUG records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 4. Soldier Defects with Weapons and Ammunition in Yedashe Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A soldier from a military outpost in Ywasith Village<\/strong>, Yedashe Township<\/strong>, Bago Region<\/strong>, defected with weapons and ammunition, according to an official announcement by Battalion 901 of the Naypyidaw Military Command under Operation Region 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defector, identified as Min Hein Kyaw<\/strong>, fled from the junta’s Ywasith Village Outpost<\/strong> at around 5:00 AM on June 7<\/strong>. He surrendered along with the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 MA-1 assault rifle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 magazines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

112 rounds of ammunition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the statement, he had served for six years<\/strong> in the military and was previously stationed with 906 BE Battalion<\/strong> based in Intakaw, Bago Region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The People\u2019s Defense Force (PDF) of Thonze Township<\/strong> is currently recruiting new members<\/strong>, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An announcement from the group states:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Thonze Township People\u2019s Defense Force is now recruiting additional fighters. Since the revolution will be carried through to the very end, we urge young men and women to join the resistance forces to help uproot the military dictatorship and rebuild the nation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Basic eligibility criteria<\/strong> for new recruits include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Must be at least 18 years old<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Must be physically and mentally healthy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Must be willing to serve until the military dictatorship collapses<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Must be able to follow rules and codes of conduct<\/strong> set by the force<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Must understand and accept disciplinary hierarchy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Must be obedient and able to carry out duties and responsibilities<\/strong> at any time or in any location as assigned<\/p>\n\n\n\n
