\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 1. Junta Airstrikes Resistance Camps on Myanmar\u2013Thailand Border to Prevent Loss of Remaining Bases<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

July 17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Myanmar military launched airstrikes using fighter jets in an effort to prevent resistance forces from seizing its remaining bases along the Myanmar\u2013Thailand border, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 16<\/strong>, around 6:05 PM and 6:20 PM Thailand time<\/strong>, Russian-made YAK-130 fighter jets<\/strong> dropped two bombs<\/strong> on areas suspected to be occupied by resistance forces, reported Addy Chaiyadech, who monitors military activity at the border, along with video evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 12<\/strong>, a joint force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)<\/strong> and People’s Defense Force (PDF)<\/strong> successfully captured the junta\u2019s stronghold at Ukrit Camp<\/strong>. As resistance forces continued operations against the remaining Waw Lay Byuha Hill Base<\/strong> and Tee Thay Lel Outpost<\/strong>, the junta responded with aerial bombings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to airstrikes, the junta also deployed kamikaze drones<\/strong> to target resistance forces on July 13<\/strong>, according to reports from Thai media outlets Khaosod<\/strong> and AEC News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to encirclement of the junta\u2019s positions at Waw Lay Byuha and Tee Thay Lel, ground supply routes were cut off. As a result, the junta began dropping supplies, ammunition, and reinforcements<\/strong> by air, attempting to hold their positions through air support, military sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the evening of July 14<\/strong>, the junta was again seen dropping packages\u2014believed to contain ammunition and rations\u2014from aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, a drone unit from the joint resistance group FFD<\/strong> conducted a bombing raid using drones on Waw Lay Byuha hill, causing an ammunition depot explosion and fire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resistance forces have been conducting intense attacks<\/strong> on the two remaining junta camps near the border since July 13<\/strong>, and fighting is reportedly ongoing and fierce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The People’s Defense Forces based in Naypyidaw<\/strong> successfully repelled a junta column that had launched an overwhelming offensive against resistance groups on the eastern bank of the Sittaung River<\/strong>, resulting in the death of around 40 junta troops<\/strong>, including 4 military officers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was announced today, July 17<\/strong>, by the Naypyidaw Regional Command<\/strong> of the People\u2019s Defense Army (PDA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The counteroffensive took place in Operation Area 2<\/strong>, spanning the Sittaung River basin to Yetashay<\/strong>, as part of a broader campaign by the Naypyidaw resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The junta troops, reinforced from the western bank of the Sittaung River<\/strong>, had crossed the Karen Chaung Bridge \u2013 Kywe Yine Pyin<\/strong> area to launch attacks with overwhelming force on the resistance-held eastern bank. During the assault, junta forces reportedly burned down around 40 civilian homes in Yehlwe Village<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, battalions from Naypyidaw\u2019s resistance\u2014including Battalions 801 through 808, 901, and 3504<\/strong>\u2014launched a coordinated counterattack, forcing the junta column to retreat back to Karen Chaung Village<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the retreat, the junta regrouped and on July 7<\/strong> launched a renewed offensive with two columns, each comprising around 200 troops<\/strong>. This triggered an intense 4-hour battle<\/strong>, followed by smaller skirmishes throughout the day<\/strong>, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, about 40 junta troops were killed<\/strong>, including four officers<\/strong>, and around 20 others were wounded<\/strong>. The junta column eventually withdrew to the western bank<\/strong> of the Sittaung River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resistance forces reported no casualties on their side<\/strong> and have since cleared unexploded ordnance and mines<\/strong> from the area to ensure civilian safety and resumed full control of the previously contested territory, the statement confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 3. Artillery Strike by Junta Forces Kills 4, Including Police Officer, in Yesagyo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

July 17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An artillery strike by Light Infantry Battalion 258<\/strong> of the junta forces stationed in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region<\/strong>, killed four people<\/strong>, including a member of the People\u2019s Security Force (Pa-Ka-Fa)<\/strong>, according to a statement released today by the local PDF unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the night of July 15<\/strong>, at around 10:00 PM<\/strong>, junta troops from LIB 258 shelled Kan Bae Village<\/strong> using two 80mm artillery shells<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One shell reportedly struck a civilian home in the village, causing an explosion and fire. When PDF security members rushed in to extinguish the flames, another 80mm shell<\/strong> was fired, resulting in multiple casualties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the dead were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ko Kaung Gyi (a.k.a Maung Yan Naing)<\/strong>, aged 20, a member of Yesagyo Pa-Ka-Fa<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His wife, Ma Thazin Wai<\/strong>, aged 24<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 32-year-old CDM (civil disobedience movement) school teacher<\/strong>, Ma Nwe Oo May<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 17-year-old youth<\/strong>, Maung Shin Lin Ko<\/strong>, from Kan Bae Village<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four other civilians in the village sustained non-life-threatening injuries<\/strong>, the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The local PDF unit held a military funeral ceremony<\/strong> for Ko Kaung Gyi and his wife. The group honored his sacrifice in defending the people against the junta\u2019s aggression and prayed that he may rest in peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 4. Clashes Erupt Between Junta Naval Vessels and Local Defense Forces on Chindwin River<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clashes broke out between junta navy vessels advancing aggressively along the Chindwin River<\/strong> and local defense forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Mahura Tiger People’s Defense Force (PDF)<\/strong> based in Kani Township<\/strong>, fighting occurred on the evening of July 16<\/strong> between junta military boats and local defense units as the navy vessels moved upstream along the Chindwin River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, on July 15<\/strong>, 26 junta navy vessels<\/strong>, which had docked overnight near Chin Ywa Village<\/strong> in Tharyarpin Village Tract<\/strong> of Kani Township, were seen moving upstream past the Kani military base<\/strong>, heading toward Maedain and Saphoke Gyi areas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These junta forces reportedly fired both heavy and light weapons<\/strong> at riverside areas as they advanced. Local civilians living along the banks were warned to remain alert and take safety precautions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 5. Junta Troops Torch Around 40 Civilian Homes in Yelwair Village on Eastern Bank of Sittaung River<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Junta troops reportedly set fire to and destroyed approximately 40 homes<\/strong> belonging to civilians in Yelwair Village<\/strong>, located on the eastern bank of the Sittaung River<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release from the People’s Defense Army (PDA) Naypyidaw Command<\/strong> on July 17<\/strong>, a large junta military column, reinforced from the western bank<\/strong>, crossed the Karen Chaung Bridge (Kywe Yine Pyin area)<\/strong> and launched an overwhelming offensive against resistance forces on the eastern bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this assault, the junta forces burned down around 40 homes in Yelwair Village<\/strong>, which were inhabited by civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 6. Junta and Pyu Militia Recklessly Fire Heavy and Light Weapons in Kyat Thin Village, Kanbalu Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Junta troops and Pyu Saw Htee militia<\/strong> stationed in Kyat Thin Village<\/strong>, Kanbalu Township<\/strong>, Sagaing Region<\/strong>, recklessly fired heavy and light weaponry<\/strong>, according to local reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kanbalu District Activist Group<\/strong> from Kyunhla Township<\/strong> confirmed that around 9:50 AM<\/strong> on July 17<\/strong>, junta and Pyu forces stationed in Kyat Thin<\/strong> began indiscriminately firing weapons, with shells reportedly landing north of the village<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 16<\/strong>, junta troops stationed in Kyat Gyi<\/strong> and Kyat Thin<\/strong> camps had also been firing light weapons indiscriminately<\/strong>, and military reconnaissance drones<\/strong> were observed flying overhead, further heightening tension in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 7. TNLA Police Unit Returns Seized Property to Owners in Mogok After Capturing Bandits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PSLF\/TNLA Township Police Unit<\/strong> in Mogok<\/strong>, located in Mandalay Region<\/strong> under the administrative territory of the Fourth Military Region of the Ta\u2019ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)<\/strong>, returned stolen property<\/strong> to its rightful owners after seizing it from a criminal gang<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement from the PSLF\/TNLA Information and Communications Department<\/strong>, the handover ceremony<\/strong> took place on July 13<\/strong> in Mogok Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Captain Tar Pan Htain<\/strong>, Head of the District General Administration Office<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 rubies<\/strong>,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sapphire-related items<\/strong>,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3 gem bags<\/strong>,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other precious stones<\/strong>,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 motorcycles<\/strong>, and<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 mobile phones<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total estimated value of the recovered items exceeded 85.2 million Kyat<\/strong> (approx. USD 40,000+).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These items had been stolen by an armed robbery gang<\/strong> from civilians in Mogok. The TNLA Township Police Unit<\/strong> had arrested members of the gang, confiscated the stolen property, and returned the items to the respective owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
