However, the fascist military has deliberately targeted schools, children, and teachers. That is why we now need to further strengthen safety measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this time, we are implementing the&nbsp;<strong>Safe Schools, Safe Education<\/strong>&nbsp;campaign with objectives such as establishing an&nbsp;<strong>early warning system<\/strong>, ensuring&nbsp;<strong>strong and reliable bomb shelters<\/strong>&nbsp;in every school, and providing adequate&nbsp;<strong>medical treatment<\/strong>&nbsp;for those injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This fundraising campaign aims to prevent the loss of our students\u2014our future\u2014and to allow teachers to educate in safety. Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun Submits Letter to UN Secretary-General Highlighting Worsening Humanitarian Crisis in Myanmar due to Military\u2019s Atrocities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 16<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambassador&nbsp;<strong>U Kyaw Moe Tun<\/strong>&nbsp;has sent a letter to the&nbsp;<strong>UN Secretary-General<\/strong>, emphasizing that over&nbsp;<strong>53 months<\/strong>&nbsp;have passed since the illegal military coup in Myanmar, and yet the people continue to suffer under the military\u2019s brutal atrocities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the letter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>6,962 civilians<\/strong>\u00a0have been killed by the military.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tens of thousands<\/strong>\u00a0have been arbitrarily detained and tortured.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over\u00a0<strong>3.5 million<\/strong>\u00a0people have been displaced from their homes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than\u00a0<strong>20 million<\/strong>\u00a0are in urgent need of humanitarian aid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>From&nbsp;<strong>January to May 2025<\/strong>&nbsp;alone:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>235 women<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>193 men<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>105 children<\/strong>\u00a0were killed in airstrikes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sagaing Region<\/strong>\u00a0suffered the worst casualties, with\u00a0<strong>130 deaths<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rakhine State<\/strong>\u00a0recorded\u00a0<strong>68 deaths<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>88 civilians<\/strong>\u00a0died from artillery shelling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Magway Region<\/strong>\u00a0recorded the highest artillery casualties with\u00a0<strong>16 deaths<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>During&nbsp;<strong>May alone<\/strong>, military airstrikes caused:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>203 civilian deaths<\/strong>, including\u00a0<strong>47 children<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>128 human rights violations<\/strong>\u00a0in Sagaing Region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>71 airstrikes<\/strong>\u00a0in Mandalay Region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>54 airstrikes<\/strong>\u00a0in Sagaing Region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The military destroyed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>341 houses<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>17 schools<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>12 Buddhist religious buildings<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>6 clinics<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The report also highlighted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>122 incidents of extrajudicial killings<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>119 cases of property destruction<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>50 instances of forced labor<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>38 forced displacements<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>33 arbitrary arrests<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>From&nbsp;<strong>February 2021 to February 2025<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>221 journalists<\/strong>&nbsp;were arrested, and&nbsp;<strong>51<\/strong>&nbsp;are still imprisoned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Political prisoners<\/strong>&nbsp;continue to face severe limitations in accessing necessary healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, resistance forces have gained territory, shot down junta fighter jets, and seized four junta bases along the&nbsp;<strong>Thai-Myanmar border<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter concluded with a strong appeal:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn order to end the suffering of the Myanmar people, the international community\u2014particularly the&nbsp;<strong>UN Security Council<\/strong>\u2014must take decisive action. Only by cutting off the military&#8217;s access to&nbsp;<strong>weapons, jet fuel, and funding<\/strong>&nbsp;can Myanmar return to the path of democracy and rebuild a peaceful future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>4. Mon-Tavoy Forces Convene and Agree to Strengthen Future Collaboration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 16<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A meeting between Mon and Tavoy (Tanintharyi) revolutionary forces was held from&nbsp;<strong>July 11 to 12, 2025<\/strong>, in a liberated area, led by the&nbsp;<strong>New Ramanya Federal Force (NRFF)<\/strong>, according to an official release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants from the&nbsp;<strong>Mon side<\/strong>&nbsp;included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mon State Federal Council (MSFC)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mon State Defense Force (MSDF)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mon State Students\u2019 Union<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Various\u00a0<strong>Mon women\u2019s organizations<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Civil society organizations<\/strong>\u00a0within Mon State<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individual representatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>From the&nbsp;<strong>Tavoy side<\/strong>, representatives from&nbsp;<strong>local civil society organizations<\/strong>&nbsp;were also in attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the course of the two-day discussions, participants exchanged views on the&nbsp;<strong>political and military situations<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>humanitarian needs<\/strong>&nbsp;in the Mon and Tavoy regions. They also reached a&nbsp;<strong>mutual agreement<\/strong>&nbsp;to strengthen&nbsp;<strong>future cooperation and joint operations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was noted that earlier in 2024, the NRFF had also co-organized a&nbsp;<strong>Mon-Tanintharyi youth conference<\/strong>&nbsp;in partnership with Tanintharyi resistance forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>5. Perpetrators of Hlataw Village Machete Attack Arrested; Legal Action Underway<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 16<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement from the&nbsp;<strong>People\u2019s Administration Committee (PaKaPha)<\/strong>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<strong>Wetlet Township<\/strong>, Sagaing Region,&nbsp;<strong>11 suspects<\/strong>&nbsp;involved in a machete attack in&nbsp;<strong>Hlataw Village<\/strong>&nbsp;have been arrested. Among them are&nbsp;<strong>two members of the local PaKaPha<\/strong>, and legal proceedings are being initiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the night of&nbsp;<strong>July 13 at around 11:30 PM<\/strong>, an armed group stormed a house in Hlataw Village and committed a brutal machete attack.&nbsp;<strong>Ko Nyaung Pin Gyi<\/strong>, the homeowner, was stabbed&nbsp;<strong>three times<\/strong>&nbsp;and died from his injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the timely receipt of information, PaKaPha and PaAhPha units were alerted that same night. By&nbsp;<strong>4:00 AM<\/strong>, units from&nbsp;<strong>Uyinma Village<\/strong>&nbsp;successfully arrested&nbsp;<strong>three primary suspects<\/strong>\u2014<strong>Pu Tu Ma<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Jam Jam<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Be Lei<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further arrests were made by township and local PaKaPha units:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Thihah<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Man Lay<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Kyoun Net<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Aung Myo<\/strong>\u00a0were apprehended by the\u00a0<strong>Don Taik Kone PaKaPha<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mat Gyi<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Tut Pi<\/strong>\u00a0(a member of the Thakhut Taw PaKaPha) were arrested by the\u00a0<strong>Kyauk Taing PaKaPha\/PaAhPha<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pauk Sa<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Lay Pwe<\/strong>\u00a0(a member of Kyee Kan PaKaPha) were captured by the\u00a0<strong>Let Hlote Taung PaKaPha<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0<strong>Depayin Township<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Confiscated items included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>13 mobile phones<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1 MA-1 rifle<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1 AK-47 rifle<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3 handmade short guns<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>16 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>15 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>7 rounds of 9mm ammunition<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>5 short knives<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4 motorcycles<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cash totaling MMK 9,615,000<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1 MAB Bank card<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>35 SIM cards worth MMK 1,000 each<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1 SIM card worth MMK 3,000<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspects were handed over to the Wetlet Township PaKaPha along with the seized evidence. Interrogations were conducted by the township spokesperson and the Investigation Officer (IO) from&nbsp;<strong>Shwebo District Battalion (1)<\/strong>, during which the suspects&nbsp;<strong>confessed to the crime<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the 11 arrested:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>2 were local PaKaPha members<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1 belonged to the Meiktila Battalion&#8217;s Doan Unit<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1 is under organizational review<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3 are civilians<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>4 are unaffiliated armed individuals with no official organizational ties<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All have been transferred to the&nbsp;<strong>Wetlet Township People\u2019s Security Team<\/strong>&nbsp;for further prosecution and legal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>6. &#8220;I Respect and Admire the Endurance and Capability of the People Participating in the Revolution,&#8221; Says Ko Htein Linn, the Youngest Son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 16<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ko Htein Linn<\/strong>, the youngest son of&nbsp;<strong>Daw Aung San Suu Kyi<\/strong>, expressed his&nbsp;<strong>deep respect and admiration for the endurance and capability<\/strong>&nbsp;of the people who are participating in the ongoing revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter successfully concluding the events commemorating my mother\u2019s 80th birthday, I decided to take a short break from social media to reflect on everything I\u2019ve done so far. During these more than four years\u2014nearly five\u2014since my mother was unjustly arrested and detained, both I and all those who love her have been doing our best for her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ko Htein Linn acknowledged that the revolutionary journey, now entering its&nbsp;<strong>fifth year<\/strong>, has not been easy for those involved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are all exhausted. Final Funeral Ceremony Held for Sayadaw Shwe Nyawa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 16<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>final funeral rites<\/strong>&nbsp;for&nbsp;<strong>Sayadaw Shwe Nyawa<\/strong>&nbsp;were held on&nbsp;<strong>July 16 at 4:30 PM<\/strong>&nbsp;at&nbsp;<strong>Shwe Nyawa Monastery<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Mawbi<\/strong>, where he had been observing Buddhist retreat (vassa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sayadaw had devoted&nbsp;<strong>over 40 years<\/strong>&nbsp;to serving the Dhamma and the welfare of the Myanmar people. Sadly, due to the&nbsp;<strong>brutality and oppression of the military junta<\/strong>, he was&nbsp;<strong>not given access to full and proper treatment<\/strong>&nbsp;for his liver disease, and passed away prematurely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funeral was attended by&nbsp;<strong>large numbers of devotees<\/strong>&nbsp;from both near and far. The event was solemn yet dignified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>ashes of Sayadaw<\/strong>&nbsp;will be&nbsp;<strong>scattered into the Yangon River<\/strong>&nbsp;on&nbsp;<strong>the morning of July 17 at 7:00 AM<\/strong>&nbsp;as part of a ceremonial offering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the Sayadaw\u2019s passing, expressions of condolences were sent by the&nbsp;<strong>U.S. Embassy<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Spring Revolution allies<\/strong>, and the&nbsp;<strong>Association of Former Political Prisoners<\/strong>.
