Belarusian Universities Providing Training to Myanmar Military Cadets<\/strong><br><strong>July 16<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<strong>Justice For Myanmar<\/strong>, multiple&nbsp;<strong>Belarusian universities<\/strong>&nbsp;are currently offering training and education to&nbsp;<strong>Myanmar military junta students<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The institutions involved include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Belarusian State University (BSU)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These universities are reported to be providing&nbsp;<strong>advanced military-oriented training programs<\/strong>, thereby assisting the Myanmar junta in its capacity to conduct&nbsp;<strong>violent operations against civilians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Belarusian State University (BSU)<\/strong>\u00a0has signed a\u00a0<strong>Memorandum of Understanding<\/strong>\u00a0with the\u00a0<strong>University of Yangon<\/strong>\u00a0and other institutions to admit junta-affiliated students. Ten students from the military regime have already been accepted, receiving instruction in\u00a0<strong>military law<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>geospatial intelligence<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>other related disciplines<\/strong>\u00a0under defense departments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR)<\/strong>\u00a0is particularly focused on training junta students in\u00a0<strong>radio-electronic engineering<\/strong>\u00a0relevant to\u00a0<strong>air defense systems<\/strong>. These students reportedly come from Myanmar\u2019s state-run arms manufacturing facilities, including:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>No. (4) Defense Industry (Naypyitaw)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No. (20) Defense Industry (Magway)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No. (10) Myanmar Heavy Industries (Mandalay)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU)<\/strong>\u00a0has also established a\u00a0<strong>military training department<\/strong>\u00a0focused on ground weaponry and logistics. In\u00a0<strong>May 2025<\/strong>, BSTU\u2019s rector reportedly met with\u00a0<strong>senior Myanmar military officers<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>34 Myanmar students<\/strong>\u00a0who had recently completed advanced military studies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice For Myanmar condemned these partnerships, stating that the universities are not only awarding&nbsp;<strong>degrees to perpetrators of war crimes<\/strong>&nbsp;but are also&nbsp;<strong>empowering them to escalate their capacity to kill<\/strong>, thereby actively abetting the Myanmar military\u2019s atrocities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>4. Moderate Earthquake Strikes Mandalay and Meiktila<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 16<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>July 16, 2025<\/strong>, at approximately&nbsp;<strong>3:27 a.m. Myanmar Standard Time<\/strong>, a&nbsp;<strong>moderate earthquake<\/strong>&nbsp;measuring&nbsp;<strong>Magnitude 4.7<\/strong>&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<strong>Richter scale<\/strong>&nbsp;struck&nbsp;<strong>1 kilometer west of Mandalay City<\/strong>, Mandalay Region. The quake occurred at a depth of&nbsp;<strong>32 kilometers<\/strong>, according to a statement issued by the&nbsp;<strong>Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the National Unity Government (NUG)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later the same morning, at approximately&nbsp;<strong>7:52 a.m. Myanmar Standard Time<\/strong>, a&nbsp;<strong>mild earthquake<\/strong>&nbsp;measuring&nbsp;<strong>Magnitude 4.4<\/strong>&nbsp;occurred&nbsp;<strong>45 kilometers east-northeast of Meiktila City<\/strong>, also in Mandalay Region.
