KNLA Joint Forces Seize Ukarit Main Military Base, Previously Used for Propaganda Film \u201cLiving Fence\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 12, Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)<\/strong>&nbsp;and allied resistance forces successfully attacked and seized control of the&nbsp;<strong>Ukarit military base<\/strong>, a major logistics hub of the military junta, located along the&nbsp;<strong>Waw Lay \u2013 Myawaddy road<\/strong>&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<strong>Thai-Myanmar border<\/strong>, according to a statement from&nbsp;<strong>Cobra Column 2 VENOM<\/strong>. Following the takeover, the Karen National flag was hoisted over the base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ukarit base gained notoriety as the filming location for the junta\u2019s propaganda film titled&nbsp;<strong>\u201cLiving Fence.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;The base was captured at approximately&nbsp;<strong>12:00 noon on July 12<\/strong>&nbsp;by combined KNLA and allied columns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting from&nbsp;<strong>July 3<\/strong>, drone units and ground assault teams had surrounded and attacked the base. Eventually, junta troops abandoned the post and fled, reports say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Thailand\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>AEC News Agency<\/strong>, more than&nbsp;<strong>100 junta troops fled across the border into Thailand<\/strong>, unable to withstand the intensity of the KNLA\u2019s offensive. The Thai military reportedly detained them for security screening, provided medical care to the wounded, and offered humanitarian support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The assault on Ukarit base was jointly carried out by&nbsp;<strong>Strategic Battalion 32<\/strong>&nbsp;under the command of&nbsp;<strong>Bo Darbo<\/strong>, KNLA Joint Forces, and&nbsp;<strong>Cobra Column 2 VENOM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Numerous weapons were seized during the operation, and some bodies of junta soldiers were also found, according to a statement by VENOM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>2. Naypyitaw Thawatti Police Station Attacked with 79mm Shells<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 12, Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>main police station in Thawatti<\/strong>, within the&nbsp;<strong>Naypyitaw Council Territory<\/strong>, was attacked using&nbsp;<strong>79mm (40mm) mortar rounds<\/strong>, according to a statement by the&nbsp;<strong>Black Leopard UG<\/strong>&nbsp;group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>July 10 at 7:55 PM<\/strong>, the group launched&nbsp;<strong>ten 79mm mortars<\/strong>&nbsp;at the police station.&nbsp;<strong>Nine of the shells landed and exploded within the compound<\/strong>, causing significant damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The police station is considered a key security installation for the junta. While casualties were reported among junta personnel, the exact number remains unconfirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation was executed by&nbsp;<strong>Black Leopard UG<\/strong>&nbsp;with support from&nbsp;<strong>31 UG<\/strong>. The group appealed to the public for assistance in supplying arms and ammunition to sustain further operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>3. Three Junta Troops Wounded in Attack on Military Unit at Koe Su Pagoda, Yinmarbin Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 12, Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At&nbsp;<strong>Koe Su Pagoda<\/strong>, near&nbsp;<strong>Allakappa Village<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Yinmarbin Township<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Sagaing District<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Sagaing Region<\/strong>, resistance forces attacked a junta unit, resulting in&nbsp;<strong>three junta soldiers being seriously injured<\/strong>, according to&nbsp;<strong>Black Eagle Defence Force (MMU)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The attack occurred at&nbsp;<strong>10:15 AM on July 11<\/strong>, targeting approximately&nbsp;<strong>20 junta troops<\/strong>&nbsp;who had traveled from the&nbsp;<strong>Dot Myanmarkyaw and Myaung junction military outposts<\/strong>&nbsp;to Koe Su Pagoda. The attack involved a&nbsp;<strong>single 40mm grenade<\/strong>&nbsp;and light arms fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three junta soldiers were critically wounded, and the remaining troops reportedly fled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a separate operation, approximately&nbsp;<strong>50 junta troops<\/strong>&nbsp;traveling in&nbsp;<strong>five civilian vehicles<\/strong>&nbsp;toward the southern side of Allakappa Village were ambushed with&nbsp;<strong>pre-laid mines (three mines at two points and four at another point)<\/strong>&nbsp;and engaged in close-quarters combat using&nbsp;<strong>three 40mm grenades and small arms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These coordinated attacks were led by the&nbsp;<strong>PDF Yinmarbin Township<\/strong>, in cooperation with the&nbsp;<strong>Black Eagle Defence Force (MMU)<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>Allakappa PDF<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>PDF Pale Township<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>Water Dragon unit (Chaung-U People\u2019s Defence)<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Tiger Cub TGR (Myaung)<\/strong>, and other local resistance groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9&nbsp;<strong>4. Fierce Clashes in Hpakant Result in Heavy Casualties Among Junta Forces<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 12, Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>July 11<\/strong>, intense clashes broke out in&nbsp;<strong>Hpakant Township<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Kachin State<\/strong>, between junta forces and joint units of the&nbsp;<strong>Kachin Independence Army (KIA)<\/strong>&nbsp;and allied resistance groups, resulting in&nbsp;<strong>heavy casualties among junta troops<\/strong>, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fighting erupted when&nbsp;<strong>KIA and the Kachin People&#8217;s Defence Force (KPDF)<\/strong>&nbsp;jointly attacked the&nbsp;<strong>junta military camp in Swat Bum Village<\/strong>&nbsp;(also known as the dumpsite area) during the&nbsp;<strong>morning of July 11<\/strong>. Reports indicate that&nbsp;<strong>around 10 junta soldiers were killed<\/strong>, and the remaining troops retreated toward&nbsp;<strong>Chin Buddha Pagoda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later that&nbsp;<strong>afternoon<\/strong>, an explosion occurred at a location where junta forces had stockpiled weapons and ammunition, reportedly causing&nbsp;<strong>additional fatalities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Separately, in&nbsp;<strong>Maung Maung Layan Village<\/strong>, junta troops advancing into the area reportedly&nbsp;<strong>shot and killed five civilians<\/strong>. Only&nbsp;<strong>two of the bodies were allowed to be retrieved and buried<\/strong>, while&nbsp;<strong>the remaining three bodies are still lying inside the village<\/strong>, sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, junta troops are stationed in various areas of&nbsp;<strong>Hpakant Township<\/strong>, including&nbsp;<strong>Maung Maung Layan<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Swat Ngai Yan<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>the Dumpsite<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Maw Si Zar<\/strong>.
