Kalay District People’s Defense Committee Orders Investigation into Drug-Related Profiteering Under the Guise of Revolution

July 11

The Kalay District People’s Defense Committee, under the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government, has issued directives to local groups in Kalay, Mingin, and Kalaywa townships of Sagaing Region to investigate and take action against those who are profiting from drug-related activities under the guise of revolutionary efforts, in a bid to make the district a drug-free zone.

An official announcement stated that all organizations in these townships must comply with this directive.

During this interim period of the people’s revolution, some profit-driven individuals have reportedly infiltrated revolutionary groups and are simultaneously engaging in the drug trade for financial gain. Authorities have emphasized the need to investigate such activities and take effective action.

Revolutionary fighters and defense forces are urged to remain vigilant regarding drug-related issues. Any individuals attempting to infiltrate revolutionary groups with the intention of undermining their objectives—especially through drug activities—must be exposed and held accountable without exception.

The Kalay District People’s Defense Committee warned that drug trading, distribution, and use severely damage the public image of the revolution and erode popular support. Therefore, revolutionary leaders are instructed to work closely with local communities to conduct investigations and take action without leaving any loopholes.

The directive also emphasized that drugs are a tool capable of destroying entire societies and humanity at large. Hence, surveillance, inspections, and necessary legal action must be taken as required.

Accordingly, travelers, revolutionary fighters, supply and logistics personnel, traders, and the general public are notified to cooperate transparently during inspections by relevant battalions, defense units, and local administrative committees (Pa-Ah-Pha) at security checkpoints in Kalay, Mingin, and Kalaywa townships.

These news updates were reported by Radio NUG correspondents Tharki and Ko Khant.

#RadioNUGLocalNews

#SpringRevolution

Myanmar Domestic News Updates – Jul 11, 2025 Evening 📌📌 1.
