Union Minister U Thein Oo Leads Discussion on Federal Democracy Constitution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 10<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An&nbsp;<strong>introductory dialogue on the Federal Democracy Constitution<\/strong>\u2014organized by the NUG\u2019s Representative Office to the Republic of Korea\u2014was successfully held online on&nbsp;<strong>July 2 and 9, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion was led by&nbsp;<strong>Union Minister for Justice U Thein Oo<\/strong>&nbsp;of the National Unity Government, who gave a presentation and facilitated the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was attended by approximately&nbsp;<strong>40 participants<\/strong>, including revolutionary comrades from Korea-based resistance organizations as well as international supporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Union Minister U Thein Oo provided a detailed explanation on key federal concepts critical to the future establishment of Myanmar&#8217;s democratic state, existing constitutional frameworks, pressing challenges, and issues requiring negotiation and resolution. Mentally Unwell Individual Summoned for Military Conscription Jumps to Death from Building<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 10<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<strong>Shwe Pyi Thar Information<\/strong>, on&nbsp;<strong>July 9 at around 3:00 PM<\/strong>, a mentally distressed man who had been summoned for military conscription&nbsp;<strong>jumped off the roof<\/strong>&nbsp;of a two-storey building used by the military at&nbsp;<strong>Oakkyin Detention Facility in Yangon<\/strong>. He later&nbsp;<strong>died that night at 10 PM<\/strong>&nbsp;at Hospital 1000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An eyewitness account reported:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe hit the concrete below. He was just a frail young man, frequently in and out of the hospital. He seemed to be between 20 and 25 years old, fair-skinned, clean-cut, tall. I heard he was taken from Shwe Pyi Thar Township. He had been held there for about 10 days. They said he passed away at the hospital around 10 PM last night. These are lives that should not have ended.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, it was reported that&nbsp;<strong>another mentally unwell individual had attempted to jump into water<\/strong>&nbsp;about five days earlier but survived. A&nbsp;<strong>disabled individual<\/strong>&nbsp;is also among those detained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is estimated that&nbsp;<strong>around 400 detainees<\/strong>&nbsp;from various townships across Yangon have been forcibly conscripted at this facility, including&nbsp;<strong>more than 40 from Shwe Pyi Thar Township<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>4. CDF-Hakha Seizes Narcotics Shipment Backed by Letter from Infantry Battalion Commander; IB-14 and IB-15 Deny Involvement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 10<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>July 8, 2025<\/strong>, members of the&nbsp;<strong>Chinland Defense Force\u2013Hakha (CDF-Hakha)<\/strong>&nbsp;intercepted a narcotics shipment near the&nbsp;<strong>Va Bridge in Falam Township<\/strong>, which was being transported under the authorization of a&nbsp;<strong>letter signed by the Commander of Infantry Battalion 15, based in Yinmarbin District<\/strong>, according to a public statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seized items included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Approximately 3 million stimulant tablets<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>About 110 kilograms of heroin (No. 4)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Two MA-series rifles<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Two mini Starlink devices<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>CDF-Hakha also arrested:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Three resistance fighters<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>One driver<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>One escort personnel<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The arrest took place within the&nbsp;<strong>Hakha Township area<\/strong>, and the suspects were traveling in&nbsp;<strong>a Hilux (9K-1693) and a Forland truck (1J-6011)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to reports,&nbsp;<strong>Maung Zaw Lat (real name U Win Maw)<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Ko Putee (real name U Kyaw Min Zaw)<\/strong>, who were allegedly responsible for overseeing the transport,&nbsp;<strong>fled and escaped arrest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The confiscated narcotics were&nbsp;<strong>incinerated on July 9<\/strong>, and CDF-Hakha announced that&nbsp;<strong>legal action would be taken<\/strong>&nbsp;against those apprehended in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response,&nbsp;<strong>Infantry Battalions 14 and 15<\/strong>&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<strong>Salingyi Special Task Force (SSTF)<\/strong>&nbsp;stated that they, as the parent units of the detained personnel, would&nbsp;<strong>take responsibility for resolving the matter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While confirming that they had issued a recommendation letter signed by&nbsp;<strong>Battalion Commander Ko Pho Thaung<\/strong>&nbsp;to transport explosives, SSTF denied any involvement in the narcotics smuggling operation. They claimed that the offense was a&nbsp;<strong>personal act<\/strong>&nbsp;by the individuals and&nbsp;<strong>not affiliated with the organization<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSTF further stated that an&nbsp;<strong>internal investigation is underway<\/strong>&nbsp;and committed to&nbsp;<strong>apprehending fugitives Maung Zaw Lat and Ko Putee<\/strong>&nbsp;to ensure effective punishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They also expressed willingness to&nbsp;<strong>cooperate with the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of the National Unity Government (NUG)<\/strong>&nbsp;in its investigation and said the two fugitives would be&nbsp;<strong>handed over to MOD<\/strong>&nbsp;once captured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SSTF publicly condemned the misuse of their organization\u2019s name for criminal activity and vowed to implement&nbsp;<strong>strict preventive measures<\/strong>&nbsp;to ensure that similar incidents do not recur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CDF-Hakha also declared that if any further cases of&nbsp;<strong>drug production, distribution, sale, use, or trafficking<\/strong>&nbsp;are discovered within&nbsp;<strong>Hakha Township<\/strong>, they will be&nbsp;<strong>firmly prosecuted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>5. Funeral Ceremony for Shwe Nya War Sayadaw to Be Held on July 16 Following One-Week Veneration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 10<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funeral ceremony for&nbsp;<strong>Shwe Nya War Sayadaw<\/strong>, who has passed away, will be held on&nbsp;<strong>Wednesday, July 16<\/strong>, after one week of public veneration of his body, according to an announcement by the&nbsp;<strong>Funeral Organizing Committee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony will take place at&nbsp;<strong>Hmawbi Municipal Cemetery<\/strong>, where the Sayadaw\u2019s body will be transported on&nbsp;<strong>Wednesday at 1:00 PM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leading up to the funeral, a&nbsp;<strong>ceremony for lowering the monastic flag (Sangha Flag)<\/strong>&nbsp;will be conducted on&nbsp;<strong>Saturday at 1:00 PM<\/strong>, and sermons will be delivered by&nbsp;<strong>Shwe Hintha Sayadaw and Twantay Sayadaw<\/strong>&nbsp;during the funeral proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shwe Nya War Sayadaw was&nbsp;<strong>arrested following the military coup on February 1, 2021<\/strong>, and was&nbsp;<strong>released from prison on November 17, 2022<\/strong>. After his release, he had been undergoing treatment for&nbsp;<strong>liver disease<\/strong>&nbsp;at the&nbsp;<strong>Asia Royal Hospital<\/strong>, where he&nbsp;<strong>passed away at 2:45 AM on July 10<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His body is currently being venerated at&nbsp;<strong>Shwe Nya War Monastery<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Hmawbi Township, Yangon<\/strong>.
