PNFC Chair Khun Myat Tun Urges Military, Police, Border Guard, and People’s Militia Forces to Defect from the Junta

July 10

PNFC Chair Khun Myat Tun has called on soldiers, police officers, forcibly conscripted members of the Border Guard Force (BGF), and junta-controlled People’s Militia Forces to break away from the junta and defect.

Speaking on July 10, he stated that the junta has suffered significant losses across multiple fronts—including politics, military affairs, diplomacy, finance, and the economy—and is already in a state of decline. As a result, it has intensified its brutal repression of civilians, treating the public as enemies.

Khun Myat Tun encouraged members of the military, police, BGF, and militia groups to proactively establish contact with resistance forces and join the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) if possible. If CDM participation is not feasible, he urged them to raise white flags and defect to the people’s side when deployed to front-line battlefields.

He also warned against opening fire during the defection process and stressed that those who defect with white flags would be recognized as “righteous sons of the people.”

On the contrary, those captured during battle and identified as junta combatants would still be treated as such, he cautioned.

The Spring Revolution, he added, is a popular uprising and a movement that transcends both plains and mountains—driven by the people’s aspiration for a new federal democratic system. He emphasized that the junta’s authoritarianism cannot sustain itself and that efforts to preserve military dictatorship under any administrative disguise are bound to fail.

Therefore, soldiers, police, BGF, and People’s Militia members must break away from the junta-controlled institutions and unite with the people, Khun Myat Tun urged on behalf of the Pao National Federal Council (PNFC).

========================

🚩🚩 2.
