The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA)<\/strong> and allied forces have successfully seized the Thuka Military Camp<\/strong>, located on the Thai\u2013Myanmar border within the Kawthoolei-administered territory<\/strong> of the Karen National Union (KNU)<\/strong> in Myeik\u2013Dawei District<\/strong>, according to an official statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thuka\u2013Masottan Defensive Camp<\/strong>, which had been manned by approximately 30 junta troops<\/strong>, was gradually encircled starting in late June. By the time of the final assault on July 7<\/strong>, all junta personnel had reportedly fled across the border into Thailand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seizure operation involved the coordinated efforts of the KNLA\u2019s Battalion 10, 12, and 27<\/strong>, as well as the Dawei People\u2019s Liberation Force<\/strong>, the Student Revolutionary Force<\/strong>, the Thagara Column and Drone Unit<\/strong>, Drone Commandos from Bawthoo Army<\/strong>, and Drone Commandos from the Way Hin Unit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thuka Camp is located in Lu Ei Taso Township<\/strong>, formerly the district capital under KNU\u2019s Myeik\u2013Dawei District. It had been overtaken by the Myanmar military in 1997, after which Light Infantry Battalions 22 and 282<\/strong> had maintained a presence there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 2. Five Junta Soldiers Killed in Drone Strike Near Milepost 318, Nyaung Htoke Gyi Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A junta unit stationed near Milepost 318<\/strong> in Nyaung Htoke Gyi Township<\/strong>, Myingyan District<\/strong>, Mandalay Region<\/strong>, was attacked with aerial bombs dropped from fixed-wing drones<\/strong>, according to a statement released by Battalion 8 of Myingyan District<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 8<\/strong>, junta forces stationed at Htein Phala Pagoda<\/strong> in Nyaung Htoke Gyi deployed troops to carry out a covert operation. These troops were subsequently attacked by Shwe Htoo Waw fixed-wing drones<\/strong>, which dropped precision bombs on their concealed positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the bombs exploded directly at the location of the ambush team, five junta soldiers were killed<\/strong>, the report confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operation was carried out jointly by Battalion 8 of Myingyan District<\/strong>, along with Battalions 2 and 3 from Meiktila District<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A junta supply convoy consisting of 10 civilian vehicles<\/strong> was attacked with landmines while transporting military rations near Yaysakyo Township<\/strong>, Magway Region<\/strong>, according to a statement from the People\u2019s Defense Force (Pa-Ka-Fa) of Yaysakyo Township<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The convoy was reportedly carrying rations\u2014originally delivered by over 20 military vessels<\/strong> via the Chindwin River<\/strong>\u2014intended for three junta battalions based in the area. The rations had been offloaded near the office of retired military officer Nyein Zani<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 7<\/strong>, the rations were to be transported using commandeered civilian trucks, which had been assembled and parked near Nyein Zani\u2019s office. Junta troops then drove the convoy themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At approximately 6:00 PM<\/strong>, a group of five anti-personnel mines<\/strong> was detonated from a concealed location near junta ambush points as the convoy passed. One truck was heavily damaged<\/strong>, and casualties were reported<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Detailed information on casualties is still under investigation. The convoy reportedly managed to reach the military bases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 4. Four Junta Troops Killed in Landmine Attack While Lying in Ambush in Nganzun Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Nganzun Township<\/strong>, Myingyan District<\/strong>, Mandalay Region<\/strong>, four junta soldiers were killed in a landmine attack while lying in ambush near a unit that was clearing landmines along the Myothar\u2013Gway Kone road<\/strong>, according to a statement released by the Naga Nyi Guerrilla Force<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 6<\/strong>, at around 6:00 AM<\/strong>, over 200 junta troops<\/strong> from Gway Kone Base<\/strong> and Myothar Base<\/strong>\u2014using local civilians as human shields\u2014conducted a demining operation aimed at clearing landmines previously laid by Naga Nyi Guerrilla Force, Myingyan District Battalion 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the risk of civilian casualties, the resistance fighters had to temporarily withdraw and allowed the junta forces to remove about 10 landmines<\/strong>. However, two pressure-triggered mines<\/strong> had been deliberately placed in a separate area further away, where a separate junta unit was stationed in ambush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These two mines were successfully detonated, killing four junta soldiers<\/strong> and seriously injuring two others<\/strong>, according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 5. KNDF Battalion 08 Commemorates Four Years of Resistance, Honoring 21 Fallen Fighters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) Battalion 08<\/strong> marked its fourth anniversary<\/strong> of armed resistance against the military dictatorship on July 8<\/strong>, declaring that its fight has been sustained through the support of the people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a commemorative statement, the battalion announced that over the past four years<\/strong>, 21 brave fighters<\/strong> have made the ultimate sacrifice. In addition, many others have been wounded or suffered life-altering injuries during the resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement expressed deep reverence and gratitude<\/strong> for all fallen heroes and those who lost limbs, vowing that the remaining comrades will continue the struggle to the end. KNDF B-08 also thanked individual and collective donors\u2014both inside and outside the country<\/strong>\u2014who provided financial and logistical support that enabled the battalion to function effectively over the four-year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement further called on all revolutionary fighters to remain strong and steadfast, and appealed to the public to continue offering solidarity and support<\/strong> as the revolution enters its next phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 6. MBT Announces Successful Production of BT-16 5.56mm Assault Rifle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 8, 2025<\/strong>, the Myingyan Black Tiger (MBT)<\/strong> resistance unit announced the successful in-house production of a BT-16 assault rifle<\/strong>, which uses 5.56mm ammunition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly developed BT-16 rifle<\/strong> is already in use by MBT troops in active combat zones and is expected to be deployed further in upcoming operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MBT stated that the rifle was jointly developed<\/strong> with the allied group Royal Brother Defence Force (RBDF)<\/strong>. The groups plan to continue manufacturing advanced small and heavy weapons<\/strong> in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each BT-16 rifle costs 3.5 million kyats<\/strong> to produce. MBT added that individual members of the public who sponsor a full rifle will have their names engraved as a commemorative inscription<\/strong> on the weapon itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
