Fierce Clashes in Waw Lay Town Leave Three Civilians Injured<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 4<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fierce clashes erupted on the morning of&nbsp;<strong>July 4<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Waw Lay Town<\/strong>, located near the&nbsp;<strong>Thailand\u2013Myanmar border<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Karen State<\/strong>, between junta troops and combined resistance forces led by the&nbsp;<strong>Karen National Union (KNU)<\/strong>. According to local sources, several artillery shells landed and exploded within the town, injuring&nbsp;<strong>three civilians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At around&nbsp;<strong>10:30 AM<\/strong>, KNU-led forces launched a drone strike targeting the junta&#8217;s&nbsp;<strong>Waw Lay strategic base<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Thay Hlae Kyar checkpoint<\/strong>, prompting junta forces to retaliate with heavy artillery fire. Police Officer from Hlinebwe Township Defects to PDF Battalion 3 in Myeik District<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 4<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A police officer from the&nbsp;<strong>Hlinebwe Township Central Police Station<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Karen State<\/strong>&nbsp;has defected and sought refuge with&nbsp;<strong>People\u2019s Defense Force (PDF) Battalion 3<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Myeik District<\/strong>, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officer, identified as&nbsp;<strong>Yan Naing Lin<\/strong>, officially defected to Battalion 3 of the PDF on&nbsp;<strong>July 4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He had previously undergone training as part of the&nbsp;<strong>292nd Intake<\/strong>&nbsp;at&nbsp;<strong>Police Basic Training School No. 2 in Wethee Kan, Pyay Township<\/strong>, and had&nbsp;<strong>11 years of service<\/strong>&nbsp;in the police force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to sources, he chose to defect after becoming unable to tolerate the junta\u2019s violent acts against civilians while he was stationed at Hlinebwe Police Station.
