The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the National Unity Government (NUG) has urged Myanmar nationals residing in Thailand to avoid joining political protests staged by Thai citizens and to refrain from participating in Thai domestic political movements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This appeal was issued today, July 2, in an official statement addressed to Myanmar nationals currently residing in Thailand, delivered in both Burmese and English. The statement is intended as a respectful advisory in light of the current political situation unfolding in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognizing that many Myanmar nationals have sought refuge in neighboring countries, including Thailand, due to the ongoing crisis in Myanmar, the NUG emphasized the importance of respecting the host country\u2019s laws, local customs, and traditions to the fullest extent possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement further stressed the significance of living in harmony with the host society, highlighting the importance of maintaining positive relations and coexistence with the local Thai community. The NUG respectfully appealed to Myanmar nationals in Thailand to contribute constructively in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NUG also communicated directly with the Thai government, clarifying that Myanmar nationals who have fled due to the brutal oppression of the military junta do not pose a threat to Thailand\u2019s national interests. The Myanmar nationals currently in Thailand are not security risks, but people who have been displaced by military violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement went on to express the NUG\u2019s heartfelt gratitude to the Thai King, the Government, Parliament, the Royal Thai Armed Forces, and the people of Thailand for their continued support and temporary shelter provided to Myanmar nationals. It reaffirmed that these individuals intend to return home once the military dictatorship in Myanmar has been successfully dismantled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NUG reiterated its ongoing efforts to ensure that Myanmar nationals temporarily residing in Thailand respect Thai society, culture, and traditions, and live in peaceful coexistence. In this spirit of mutual respect and humanity, the NUG earnestly appealed to the Thai government and people to continue extending their care, support, and protection to those displaced Myanmar nationals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only about 36% of the required funding for Myanmar\u2019s earthquake response plan has been received, leaving many people still struggling to rebuild their lives, according to a statement by UN OCHA Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In Myanmar, in addition to conflict and natural disasters, the lack of adequate funding has led to delays in humanitarian response operations,” the agency stated.
“Only around 36% of the funding required for the earthquake response plan has been received, and many people continue to face severe challenges in rebuilding their lives.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The earthquake that struck Sagaing Region on the afternoon of March 28, 2025<\/strong>, claimed the lives of over 3,000 people<\/strong> and caused widespread destruction to homes and infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Progressive Karenni People’s Force (PKPF) reported that a total of 1,955 aerial attacks<\/strong> were carried out by the military junta (SAC) in Karenni State and eastern Kayah regions<\/strong>, resulting in the deaths of 580 civilians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the PKPF\u2019s report covering the period from the military coup on February 1, 2021<\/strong>, to June 30, 2025<\/strong>, widespread violations of human rights, armed conflict, and political oppression have taken place in these regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
