Two Clashes Erupt as Junta Troops Attack a Revolutionary Checkpoint in Bokpyin Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>July 1<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to&nbsp;<strong>Battalion 1 of Kawthaung District<\/strong>, two clashes occurred when junta forces attempted to assault a&nbsp;<strong>revolutionary security checkpoint<\/strong>&nbsp;located between&nbsp;<strong>Chaung Mhone and Wa Din villages<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Bokpyin Township<\/strong>, Tanintharyi Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At around&nbsp;<strong>6:00 a.m. on June 21<\/strong>, a junta force of over&nbsp;<strong>50 soldiers<\/strong>&nbsp;advanced from the&nbsp;<strong>Bokpyin<\/strong>&nbsp;side and established a position at&nbsp;<strong>Bo Daw village<\/strong>, while another group of over&nbsp;<strong>40 soldiers<\/strong>&nbsp;approached from the&nbsp;<strong>Lenya<\/strong>&nbsp;side. They jointly launched an assault on the&nbsp;<strong>checkpoint manned by allied revolutionary forces<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first clash, involving&nbsp;<strong>exchanges of heavy and light weapons<\/strong>, lasted approximately&nbsp;<strong>30 minutes<\/strong>. Upon arrival, the soldiers conducted mobile phone checks on youths playing football in a field outside the village and attempted to arrest them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maung Aung Thu Tun, who arrived at the field by motorcycle, reportedly panicked upon seeing the junta soldiers and tried to flee. However, as he turned back to retrieve a dropped phone, the soldiers&nbsp;<strong>shot him twice from behind<\/strong>\u2014once striking his&nbsp;<strong>leg<\/strong>&nbsp;and the second shot hitting him in the&nbsp;<strong>back<\/strong>, causing his&nbsp;<strong>immediate death on the spot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the shooting, the junta troops&nbsp;<strong>wrapped his body in a longyi (sarong)<\/strong>&nbsp;and carried it away.
