Burma Saffron Revolution – 1 year – Monkhood in LA<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/strong><\/p>\nBurmese residents in Los Angeles became monks to honor one year anniversary of Saffron Revolution<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\nMoeMaKa \u2013 Photo News<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\nSeptember 27th<\/sup> 2008<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Eight Burmese residing in California became monks at Dhamma Joti Center under the guidance of residing monks at Dhamma Joti Burmese Buddhist Monastery. They became monks for couple of days giving up their freedom of normal human being and to follow and abide by the rules and teaching of Buddhism to realize and appreciate the noble life of being a monk. <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>This is to honor the one year anniversary of Burmese Saffron Revolution where Burmese monks and people staged peaceful protests to the Burmese military junta back in September 2007 but it ended with brutal crackdown.
