Terrorist Military Junta Orchestrates Fake Peace Process While Committing Real Atrocities

June 28
Radio NUG

Under the banner of “Peace Forum 2025,” the terrorist military junta organized an event in Nay Pyi Taw from June 25 to 27. The forum featured participation from some organizations, political parties, and individuals that neither possess public support nor demonstrate empathy or solidarity with the suffering population. These participants, aligned with the junta, discussed a wide range of topics under the guise of a so-called “peace process,” including orchestrating a sham election that the people have clearly rejected and that could never bring genuine justice.

National Unity Government’s Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann stated that while the junta conducted this staged peace forum, it continued to engage in daily acts of brutality. Since the beginning of its illegitimate seizure of power, the terrorist military has killed thousands of people unlawfully—systematically murdering citizens across cities and regions, cracking down on anti-junta protesters, arbitrarily arresting and imprisoning the public, torching entire villages, and committing mass killings.

Furthermore, after enforcing an illegitimate military conscription law, the junta has been sending large numbers of youth and young adults to the frontlines, forcing them to fight and die in defense of its illegitimate rule.

The military is also relentlessly bombing civilian infrastructure with airstrikes—including homes, schools, hospitals, and public spaces—resulting in widespread death and destruction. Countless children have not only lost access to education but also the right to life itself under the military’s terror. People across the country are enduring the daily consequences of the junta’s cruel and inhumane violence.

While the junta promotes its “peace process” as a façade, the atrocities it perpetrates are undeniably real. The only path to genuine peace, Prime Minister Mahn Winn Khaing Thann emphasized, is to dismantle the military dictatorship, which is the root cause of these horrific acts.

He further urged both the people of Myanmar and the international community to resolutely reject the junta’s sham elections, fake peace initiatives, and the individuals and entities complicit in such deceptive schemes.
