The 5th Regular Session of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament was held today, June 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. via video conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the opening of the session, a moment of silence lasting ten seconds was observed in honor of the fallen heroes of successive democratic movements and the ongoing Spring Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this, the Speaker of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament delivered an opening address, after which Union Parliament Speaker U Aung Kyin Hnyunt and invited guest U Tun Tun Hein (Central Executive Committee Member of the National League for Democracy) delivered speeches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, a representative of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament presented a report on the implementation of activities during the Sagaing Earthquake, which was officially recorded by the Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, two parliamentary representatives presented a report on the implementation of work related to the Draft Interim Constitution of the Sagaing Federal Unit<\/strong> to the Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, three parliamentary representatives officially submitted the Draft Interim Constitution of the Sagaing Federal Unit<\/strong> to the Parliament. It was confirmed that the Speaker of the Parliament announced its official approval following deliberation and decision by the Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly 100,000 birthday video messages were sent in honor of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi\u2019s 80th birthday, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record, according to her son Ko Htein Lin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign to collect video birthday wishes for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi concluded on June 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe birthday campaign for my mother became a tremendously successful and unforgettable event. We are deeply grateful to have received such abundant love from around the world. Thousands of people wrote heartfelt birthday messages and shared them on social media. The fact that over 100,000 birthday video messages were submitted and the Guinness World Record was broken this year reflects the unity and unwavering support we have received. It far exceeded my expectations. I sincerely thank everyone who has shown so much love for my mother,\u201d said Ko Htein Lin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the campaign evolved into more than just a campaign\u2014it became an internationally recognized show of solidarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo matter how many obstacles stand in our way, my mother\u2019s unwavering will is always with us. We have accomplished this for her. And we must continue to move forward together,\u201d Ko Htein Lin affirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 3. Without Immediate Humanitarian Funding, Millions in Myanmar Will Remain Deprived of Aid, Says UN Humanitarian Coordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unless immediate humanitarian funding is received, millions of people in Myanmar will be unable to access the aid they desperately need, said Mr. Marcoluigi Corsi, the outgoing Humanitarian Coordinator for Myanmar. He completed his term of service and has now departed the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe severe lack of funding for humanitarian operations in Myanmar is our biggest challenge,\u201d he said. \u201cOf the US$275 million requested for earthquake response, only US$100 million\u2014just 36 percent\u2014has been secured so far. More concerning still is that despite being halfway through the year, only US$134 million\u2014less than 12 percent\u2014of the US$1.1 billion requested under the 2025 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan for countrywide operations has been received.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This statement by Mr. Marcoluigi Corsi was published by UN OCHA Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He warned that if urgent funding is not made available, millions of people will remain without access to critical assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Humanitarian partners, he added, are no longer able to provide assistance at the necessary scale, frequency, and quality, putting countless lives at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of the current reporting period, the Safe Hospital, Safe Healthcare<\/em> campaign has successfully raised over 240 million kyats\u2014equivalent to 69%<\/strong> of its target, according to a statement released by SpringCrowdFund (SCF) on June 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is now only 31% remaining to fully fund the construction of one safe hospital. As we\u2019ve already raised over 240 million kyats (69%), we need just over 100 million kyats more to complete the goal. If everyone contributes collectively, we can reach the target in time,\u201d SCF stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign aims to raise USD 400,000<\/strong> and is scheduled to run from May 24 to June 30<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funeral of prominent writer and veteran political figure Nyine Aye Ein<\/strong> was held today, June 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the new hall of Yayway Cemetery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nyine Aye Ein, who was a well-known figure in Myanmar\u2019s post-modern literary scene, served as Editor-in-Chief during the early days of Sar Phu Magazine<\/strong> in the 1990s. He passed away on June 23<\/strong> due to cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His real name was U Kyaw Kyaw Oo<\/strong>, and he died at the age of 69. He authored 13 books, including short stories, novels, essays, and photo essays. One of his acclaimed works, \u201cMoet Set Pone Pyin\u201d (Raindrop Tales) from Yellow Winter Days<\/em>, was widely influential among readers of post-modern literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fondly known as \u201cSayar Nyine,\u201d he was also a former member of the Communist Party of Burma<\/strong> and a member of the Peace Group NDA-K (Kachin)<\/strong>. He was imprisoned as a political prisoner for his involvement in the 1976 Hmine Yar Byi Uprising<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Respected in literary and cinematic circles, Nyine Aye Ein was deeply loved by peers. His funeral was attended by former members of the Communist Party of Burma and members from Kachin Special Region, and the ceremony was adorned with numerous wreaths and floral tributes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His body was cremated, and he is survived by his wife Daw Khin Mar Aye<\/strong>, one daughter, and a grandchild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 6. Defend Myanmar Democracy to Formally Petition Meta to Take Down Junta-Controlled Facebook Pages<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defend Myanmar Democracy<\/strong> announced that it would send a formal letter to Meta<\/strong> urging action to remove Facebook pages<\/strong> controlled by the Myanmar military junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn 2021, Facebook announced that it had banned pages linked to the Myanmar military and state-run media under junta control. So why are those pages still active?\u201d Defend Myanmar Democracy questioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pages in question include those of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/strong>, Ministry of Hotels and Tourism<\/strong>, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation<\/strong>, Anti-Corruption Commission<\/strong>, and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development<\/strong>, among others. These pages are accused of continuing to carry out propaganda for the military, creating false legitimacy, and facilitating financial revenue for the junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis continued existence of junta-linked pages clearly violates Meta\u2019s own stated policies. Defend Myanmar Democracy will send an official letter to Meta demanding decisive action to take these pages down,\u201d the group stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
