The Transitional Justice Coordination Meeting<\/strong> was convened on June 21, 2025<\/strong>, at 3:30 PM Myanmar Standard Time<\/strong>, under the leadership of the Department of Rule of Law and Transitional Justice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was attended by government officials from nine ministries<\/strong> of the National Unity Government (NUG)<\/strong> who had previously completed an intensive long-term training on Transitional Justice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Union Minister for Justice U Thein Oo<\/strong> delivered the opening remarks<\/strong>, representing the Ministry of Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the opening, Union Minister U Thein Oo also provided guidance remarks<\/strong> concerning transitional justice implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, the officials who had completed the transitional justice training presented their ongoing activities<\/strong>, and discussed the tasks that lie ahead<\/strong> in the transitional justice process. The session also included interactive discussions, mutual exchange of perspectives, and proposals<\/strong> among the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Representatives from the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament<\/strong> and relevant officials from the Sagaing People’s Defense Force (PDF)<\/strong> held a video conference discussion<\/strong> on June 23, 2025, at 9:00 AM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session began with opening remarks by the Chairperson of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament<\/strong>, after which both sides engaged in a frank and open exchange<\/strong> of questions and perspectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion centered on the activities of the Sagaing Federal Unit Parliament<\/strong> and possible areas for collaboration<\/strong> with the Sagaing PDF<\/strong>, focusing on enhancing joint operational efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Myanmar Witness<\/strong>, two Shaanxi Y-8F-200W military transport aircraft<\/strong>, believed to be soon deployed by the Myanmar Air Force (MAF)<\/strong>, were sighted at the Kunming International Airport<\/strong> in the People\u2019s Republic of China. The report was released on June 23<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft are identified as strategic transport aircraft<\/strong> and are labeled with the Myanmar Air Force insignia<\/strong>. Notably, their tail numbers\u20145923 and 5924\u2014have never been seen before<\/strong>, marking them as newly acquired units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, the Y-8F-200W aircraft with tail number 5922<\/strong> was introduced into service in December 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Myanmar military junta\u2019s air force is reportedly expanding its fleet<\/strong> of Y-8 aircraft, emphasizing their logistical transport capabilities<\/strong> and multi-purpose operational utility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International monitoring sources indicate that the junta currently operates at least seven Y-8 transport aircraft<\/strong> in its air force fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 4. Former Political Prisoner and Renowned Writer Nyein Ae Aye Passes Away<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Writer Nyein Ae Aye (a.k.a. U Kyaw Kyaw Oo)<\/strong>\u2014a former political prisoner, participant in the Hmine Yar Pyay Uprising<\/strong>, and widely known as the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of Tharaphiu Magazine<\/strong>\u2014passed away at around 12:00 noon on June 23<\/strong> at Pinlon Hospital in Yangon<\/strong>, due to cancer<\/strong>, at the age of 69<\/strong>, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nyein Ae Aye actively participated in the 1976 Hmine Yar Pyay Uprising<\/strong> and was a former member of the Communist Party of Burma<\/strong>. He was also a former political prisoner<\/strong> and a major figure in Myanmar\u2019s postmodern literary scene<\/strong>, having spearheaded the publication of Tharaphiu Magazine<\/em> during the early 1990s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024<\/strong>, after being hospitalized due to dizziness, he was diagnosed with cancer<\/strong> and had been receiving treatment since then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following his passing, members of both the literary<\/strong> and political communities<\/strong> have expressed their deep sorrow<\/strong>. His funeral ceremony<\/strong> is scheduled to be held at Yeway Cemetery in Yangon<\/strong> on June 25 at 11:30 AM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Public Administration Team of Min Tat Township<\/strong> has announced that the Min Tat\u2013Matupi Highway<\/strong>, which had sustained damage and landslides<\/strong>, has now been fully repaired<\/strong> and is open for use again starting from June 24, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The road had been damaged due to heavy rainfall<\/strong>, and repairs using machinery<\/strong> began on June 18, 2025<\/strong> to address landslides and other structural issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
