Additionally, the junta has imposed the&nbsp;<strong>People\u2019s Military Service Law<\/strong>, forcibly conscripting youth into military service. This has caused many young people to flee to foreign countries, where they now face serious difficulties securing employment due to their refugee status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CRPH emphasized that workers are the lifeblood of the nation and play a vital role in the struggle to end military dictatorship and establish a&nbsp;<strong>Federal Democratic Union<\/strong>. Mandalay Region\u2019s Political Transitional Plan Coordination and Drafting Committee Granted Four-Month Extension<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mandalay Region Hluttaw Special Session (2\/2025) was convened on&nbsp;<strong>June 6, 2025<\/strong>, at&nbsp;<strong>9:00 a.m.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acting as Interim Speaker of the Mandalay Region Hluttaw was&nbsp;<strong>Daw Thida Nyein<\/strong>, Hluttaw representative from&nbsp;<strong>Mahlaing Township<\/strong>, who presided over the session. More than&nbsp;<strong>84%<\/strong>&nbsp;of the region&#8217;s Hluttaw representatives eligible to attend were present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the session, the proposal to&nbsp;<strong>extend the term of the Mandalay Region Political Transitional Plan Coordination and Drafting Committee<\/strong>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>four months<\/strong>&nbsp;was submitted by&nbsp;<strong>U Ko Maung<\/strong>, Secretary of the Legislative Affairs Committee. This decision was welcomed by the&nbsp;<strong>Ministry of Labour of the National Unity Government (NUG)<\/strong>&nbsp;as a&nbsp;<strong>victory for the people of Myanmar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision was made during the&nbsp;<strong>113th International Labour Conference<\/strong>&nbsp;held in&nbsp;<strong>Geneva, Switzerland<\/strong>. The ILO acted in response to the junta\u2019s repeated&nbsp;<strong>violations of fundamental labour rights and human rights<\/strong>, especially breaches of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Convention No. 87<\/strong>\u00a0(Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize), and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Convention No. 29<\/strong>\u00a0(Forced Labour).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The NUG Ministry of Labour expressed strong support for the ILO\u2019s move, describing it as a response to the junta\u2019s blatant and sustained disregard for these core principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the ministry, this ILO resolution represents a&nbsp;<strong>hard-earned victory for the people of Myanmar<\/strong>, who have endured years of struggle, including&nbsp;<strong>military gunfire, various forms of repression, sexual violence against women, airstrikes on civilian populations, and the bombing of schoolchildren<\/strong>. The ministry emphasized that this decision marks international recognition of the people\u2019s resilience and pursuit of justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>U Maung Maung<\/strong>, from the&nbsp;<strong>Myanmar Labour Alliance (MLA) \/ Confederation of Trade Unions Myanmar (CTUM)<\/strong>&nbsp;and a representative of the NUG\u2019s Tripartite Delegation, addressed the opening of the conference and called for decisive international action under Article 33 to hold the military regime accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daw Phyo Sandar Soe<\/strong>, another representative from the NUG\u2019s Tripartite Delegation and Deputy Representative of the&nbsp;<strong>International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC)<\/strong>, stated that action under&nbsp;<strong>Article 33 is not about retaliation<\/strong>, but rather about&nbsp;<strong>restoring dignity, justice, and rebuilding lives<\/strong>&nbsp;for the people of Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ILO conference was attended by delegates representing the people of Myanmar under the leadership of the&nbsp;<strong>NUG\u2019s Ministry of Labour<\/strong>, along with representatives from governments, employers, and workers.
