Lee Jae-myung, a strong supporter of Myanmar\u2019s Spring Revolution, is 99% certain to become the next President of South Korea, according to U Yan Naing Tun, NUG’s Representative in Korea, who commented in light of the upcoming South Korean presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the very beginning of Myanmar\u2019s Spring Revolution to the present day, Lee Jae-myung has stood in unwavering support of Myanmar\u2019s democratic struggle. Within South Korea’s political circles, he is known for publicly raising the three-finger salute in solidarity with Myanmar’s people and for his vocal condemnation of the brutal military junta. He has notably extended meaningful assistance to the \u201cMyanmar Network Organization,\u201d a major ally of the Committee Against the Coup (Korea), one of the most active Myanmar pro-democracy support groups operating within South Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Democratic Party’s leader, Lee Jae-myung is currently the frontrunner with a 99% likelihood of winning the 21st presidential election of South Korea. His steadfast support for Myanmar\u2019s Spring Revolution is recognized as highly commendable and deeply appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 18, 2024, during the commemoration ceremony of the May 18 Gwangju Democratic Uprising held in Gwangju City, Union Minister Daw Zin Mar Aung of the NUG Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Union Minister U Tin Tun Naing of the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment met with Lee Jae-myung. During this meeting, he reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting Myanmar\u2019s democratic cause in a sincere and open manner. It is understood that Lee Jae-myung currently serves both as a Member of Parliament and as the Chairman of his party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A coordination meeting (No. 5\/2025) between the Ministry of Justice of the National Unity Government, the Interim Judicial Administration Department, and township-level judges was convened on May 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by Daw May Poe, Director of the Department of Procedures under the Interim Judicial Administration; Daw Shwe Nwe Yo, Head of Office; responsible staff members; judges from 29 township courts; and liaison officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivering the opening remarks on behalf of the Director General of the Interim Judicial Administration Department, Daw May Poe first expressed special gratitude to all township judges who attended the meeting despite the many challenges they face. She emphasized that judges must not only implement legal proceedings in accordance with the law, but also ensure that the truth is established and made known to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She specifically underscored the importance of exercising increased attention and responsibility when dealing with matters related to various organizations. She noted that while judges have been fulfilling their duties lawfully and truthfully, misunderstandings by certain organizations regarding the legal process have resulted in inappropriate reactions, creating difficulties for township judges who are left to mediate and resolve such conflicts. She therefore called for heightened caution and care in managing these matters going forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following this, officials from the Department of Procedures provided practical training for township judges, demonstrating how to accurately complete official court documentation formats commonly used in daily legal proceedings, using sample templates for clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justice for Myanmar has issued a letter of inquiry dated June 2 concerning investments linked to Myanmar crony economic enterprises by several Japanese institutions, including Japan International Broadcasting Inc. (a subsidiary of NHK), the public-private Cool Japan Fund, and the Japan ICT Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The letter raised concerns about their financial involvement in Shwe Thanlwin Media Company Limited (STLM)\u2014one of Myanmar\u2019s most prominent crony media conglomerates\u2014and Dream Vision Co., Ltd., a company involved in broadcasting infrastructure and distributing Japanese cultural content in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justice for Myanmar stated that six Japanese organizations have been identified as connected to these investment ventures. STLM owns and operates Myanmar National Television (MNTV), and is a subsidiary of the Shwe Thanlwin Group. STLM was also named in an independent international fact-finding mission\u2019s report as a company with direct ties to the Myanmar military regime, noting that in 2017, it participated in a donation campaign organized by the military to support the so-called \u201cclearance operations\u201d against the Rohingya\u2014a campaign widely recognized as ethnic cleansing and genocide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inquiry underscores mounting concerns over continued foreign investments in companies linked to the Myanmar military regime and calls on Japanese institutions to clarify and reconsider such financial relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A public mobilization campaign under the theme \u201cStop the Weaponization of Aid\u201d (STOP WoA)<\/strong> has been announced, aiming to prevent the military junta from exploiting international humanitarian and earthquake relief assistance as tools of war and political gain. The campaign seeks to ensure that aid reaches earthquake-affected populations directly and fairly, without being diverted or militarized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Justice for Myanmar<\/strong>, the campaign will call upon international governments, ASEAN, UN agencies, and international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) to take coordinated action that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
