NUG Releases Relief Distribution Report for Earthquake-Affected Areas as of May 28, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the National Unity Government (NUG) released an official update on June 2 regarding the provision of aid to earthquake-affected regions up to May 28, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe continue striving to deliver aid to those suffering, regardless of location. Initial stages of reconstruction are already underway. With the support of the people, we will implement the most effective outcomes,\u201d the Ministry stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the aid distribution data up to May 28, 2025:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In\u00a0<strong>Sagaing Region<\/strong>, over\u00a0<strong>MMK 1.301 billion<\/strong>\u00a0was allocated for\u00a0<strong>4,602 households<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In\u00a0<strong>Mandalay Region<\/strong>, more than\u00a0<strong>MMK 2.691 billion<\/strong>\u00a0was provided to\u00a0<strong>8,851 households<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In\u00a0<strong>Bago Region<\/strong>, over\u00a0<strong>MMK 383 million<\/strong>\u00a0was disbursed to\u00a0<strong>1,501 households<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In\u00a0<strong>Southern Shan State<\/strong>, more than\u00a0<strong>MMK 259 million<\/strong>\u00a0reached\u00a0<strong>1,746 households<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Naypyidaw Union Territory<\/strong>, over\u00a0<strong>MMK 330 million<\/strong>\u00a0was provided to\u00a0<strong>1,709 households<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In\u00a0<strong>other regions<\/strong>, aid worth more than\u00a0<strong>MMK 541 million<\/strong>\u00a0was distributed to\u00a0<strong>1,809 households<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>2. Schools Will Reopen Only When Safety Standards Are Fully Met, Says Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSchools are being inspected to ensure they provide a safe and secure learning environment. Only when safety requirements are fully met will the schools be reopened,\u201d said Union Minister Prof. Dr. Zaw Wai Soe during the&nbsp;<em>People to People<\/em>&nbsp;program, speaking on behalf of both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health under the NUG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs everyone knows, in areas like Ohn Taw, students and teachers have lost their lives. We cannot accept the recurrence of such tragedies. We cannot afford to lose a single student. Because of this, we are temporarily suspending in-person classes and taking time to ensure that schools and localities can offer reliable safety,\u201d the Minister explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis does&nbsp;<strong>not<\/strong>&nbsp;mean education is being halted. During this temporary suspension, we are inspecting all the required safety measures for schools. Once these standards are fully met, schools will reopen. We are already implementing these plans region by region, and state by state,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe also stated that township-level Education Boards\u2014including those from&nbsp;<strong>Pa Ka Pha<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Pa La Pha<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Pa Ah Pha<\/strong>\u2014are coordinating together and that reopening will proceed in accordance with systematic plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He further emphasized that schools will only reopen when&nbsp;<strong>100% of safety criteria<\/strong>&nbsp;are fulfilled, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Implementation of\u00a0<strong>Early Warning Systems<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establishment of\u00a0<strong>bomb shelters<\/strong>\u00a0in every school,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And proper\u00a0<strong>air-raid defense training<\/strong>\u00a0for staff and students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>3. Ministry of Human Rights Systematically Documents Junta\u2019s Abuses; Releases Four Public Data Dashboards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Human Rights of the NUG has systematically documented human rights violations committed by the terrorist military junta and released&nbsp;<strong>four public Data Dashboards<\/strong>&nbsp;to enable real-time study and reference by the public, according to Minister U Aung Myo Min.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe first dashboard released was the&nbsp;<em>Unlawful Conscription Watch Dashboard<\/em>, which records incidents following the junta\u2019s unlawful conscription law. It details how youths were increasingly targeted and arbitrarily detained. The dashboard provides data on the total number of forced conscription incidents, number of individuals detained, as well as location-based and time-based breakdowns,\u201d the Minister stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry, prioritizing its duty to document human rights violations, has also published dashboards cataloging&nbsp;<strong>types of human rights violations (LOVs)<\/strong>&nbsp;by year, month, and incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, it released the&nbsp;<strong>Massacres by Military Junta Data Dashboard<\/strong>, which compiles comprehensive data on mass killings perpetrated by the junta, allowing for public research and referencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn order to ensure justice and bring an end to the impunity surrounding these crimes, the Ministry of Human Rights is committed to taking decisive action in line with strong international standards and will continue all efforts with utmost dedication,\u201d Minister U Aung Myo Min affirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>4. Meeting Between IPCM and NUCC on Media Policies, Laws, and the Safety and Protection of Journalists<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A meeting was held between the Independent Press Council Myanmar (IPCM) and the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) on June 2 to discuss matters related to media policies and legislation, including the protection and safety of journalists and press freedom, according to an announcement from the NUCC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting, IPCM representatives provided an overview of the formation and current activities of the Independent Press Council Myanmar. In return, the NUCC shared its own principles on media policies and its fundamental values concerning media relations and communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both sides went on to discuss and identify possible areas for future collaboration between IPCM and the NUCC. KNA Opens Expanded Integrated Health Service Center (IHSC) in Karenni Region<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a collaborative effort with donors, the Karenni Nurses Association (KNA) has inaugurated a new Integrated Health Service Center (IHSC) at an undisclosed location in the Karenni region, with the aim of strengthening and expanding healthcare services, according to a statement released by the KNA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organization expressed its deep gratitude to each individual and group who contributed and supported the successful opening of the center. KNA also extended an open invitation to continue partnering for the center\u2019s effective operation and further expansion of comprehensive healthcare services in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>6. 80th Anniversary Memorial Commemoration for Major Baho&#8217;s Martyrdom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the morning of June 2\u2014designated as Baho Day\u2014a commemorative ceremony was held at the statue of Major Baho in Launglon Township to mark the 80th anniversary of his martyrdom. The event was led by the Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC), according to its official report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ceremony included several commemorative activities, such as laying wreaths, paying respects to Major Baho, and observing a one-minute silence to honor not only Major Baho but also all fallen heroes who gave their lives in the struggle for Myanmar\u2019s independence and successive movements for democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Major Baho, a distinguished native of Dawei, sacrificed his life for Myanmar\u2019s independence on the night of June 2, 1945. In recognition of his legacy, June 2 has been designated as \u201cBaho Day\u201d by the DDMSC since June 2, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The committee further stated that it will continue advocating for \u201cBaho Day\u201d to be officially recognized as a public holiday at the state level in the future Federal Union of Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>7. Three Civilians and Two Children Fleeing from Food Shortages in Kan Ni Pyu Saw Htee Village Safely Evacuated<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement released by the No. (15) Battalion of Pakokku District, on May 30, the battalion assisted and safely evacuated three civilians and two children who had fled from Kan Ni Pyu Saw Htee Village, in coordination with the same battalion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The civilians had reportedly escaped from Kan Ni Village due to a severe food shortage. Although many villagers are planning to flee the area, it is reported that Kyaw San Win, the Pyu Saw Htee leader of the village, along with junta troops stationed there, have been issuing threats to deter them from leaving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supplies sent to the village are not being distributed to civilians, but are instead being sold by Kyaw San Win and the responsible junta officers. They are reportedly charging 8,000 MMK per&nbsp;<em>pyi<\/em>&nbsp;(a traditional unit of rice), with each person being allowed to purchase only two&nbsp;<em>beer bottles<\/em>-worth of rice per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those who have fled from the village stated that oppressive behavior by the military officers stationed there has also triggered unrest and discontent among the Pyu Saw Htee members themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc&nbsp;<strong>8. Six Buyers of U Min Ko Naing\u2019s \u201cCollar Shay Shay Ka Lan Lan\u201d Book to Receive Original Paintings via Lucky Draw<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>June 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CDM Medical Network has announced that six purchasers of U Min Ko Naing\u2019s book&nbsp;<em>\u201cCollar Shay Shay Ka Lan Lan\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;will be selected through a lucky draw to receive six original paintings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The entirety of the proceeds from the sale of&nbsp;<em>\u201cCollar Shay Shay Ka Lan Lan\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;will be dedicated to the rehabilitation of earthquake-affected populations in revolutionary zones, as well as to support revolutionary organizations and CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the book is a limited edition with only 1,300 copies (numbered from 1\/1300 to 1300\/1300), purchasers may select and request their preferred copy number when placing an order.
