NUG Deputy Minister of Health: 383 Hospitals Across the Country Destroyed by Junta\u2019s Airstrikes and Attacks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May 30<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014<br>A total of&nbsp;<strong>383 hospitals across Myanmar have been destroyed<\/strong>&nbsp;due to&nbsp;<strong>airstrikes, artillery shelling, and acts of violence<\/strong>&nbsp;committed by the terrorist military, according to Dr. Shwe Pon, Deputy Minister of Health for the National Unity Government (NUG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In urging public support, Dr. Shwe Pon called on people to contribute toward&nbsp;<strong>establishing safe healthcare services and hospitals across Myanmar<\/strong>, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the NUG Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince the momentum of the revolution intensified, the terrorist military has been deliberately targeting hospitals and clinics. Despite having pledged to treat anyone regardless of background, we \u2014 as healthcare workers \u2014 have had to risk our lives, working amid airstrikes and conflict zones.<br>So far,&nbsp;<strong>142 healthcare workers, including senior specialists, have been killed<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>159 others have been injured<\/strong>.<br>A total of&nbsp;<strong>383 hospitals nationwide have been destroyed<\/strong>&nbsp;by military airstrikes, heavy artillery, and violent destruction.<br>Despite these grave losses, we healthcare workers remain resilient and continue our mission,&#8221; said Dr. Shwe Pon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;Safe Hospital, Safe Healthcare&#8221; campaign<\/strong>, launched on&nbsp;<strong>May 24<\/strong>, aims to raise&nbsp;<strong>USD 400,000<\/strong>, and will run until&nbsp;<strong>June 30<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc<strong>&nbsp;2. SAC-M: ASEAN Has Once Again Failed the People of Myanmar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Special Advisory Council for Myanmar (SAC-M)<\/strong>&nbsp;has declared that&nbsp;<strong>ASEAN has once again failed in its duty toward the people of Myanmar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This statement followed the recent ASEAN Summit held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the current ASEAN chairmanship resides. In its statement issued on&nbsp;<strong>May 29<\/strong>, SAC-M criticized ASEAN for&nbsp;<strong>another disappointing failure regarding the Myanmar crisis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to SAC-M member&nbsp;<strong>Marzuki Darusman<\/strong>, ASEAN\u2019s inability to effectively implement the&nbsp;<strong>Five-Point Consensus<\/strong>&nbsp;reflects a&nbsp;<strong>lack of commitment and creativity<\/strong>&nbsp;in responding to one of the most serious regional crises in decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the joint ASEAN Leaders&#8217; statement on Myanmar, the bloc reiterated its adherence to the&nbsp;<strong>Five-Point Consensus agreed upon in April 2021<\/strong>, and expressed&nbsp;<strong>support for ceasefire commitments<\/strong>&nbsp;from all armed groups, including the military junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, SAC-M noted that&nbsp;<strong>just one day before the ASEAN Foreign Ministers\u2019 meeting<\/strong>&nbsp;on&nbsp;<strong>May 25<\/strong>, the junta&nbsp;<strong>carried out an airstrike<\/strong>&nbsp;on a wedding ceremony in&nbsp;<strong>Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region<\/strong>, killing&nbsp;<strong>at least 10 people<\/strong>, including&nbsp;<strong>the bride and two children<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to that incident, the junta also&nbsp;<strong>bombed a school<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Dipeyin Township, Sagaing Region<\/strong>, killing&nbsp;<strong>24 people<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 including&nbsp;<strong>22 schoolchildren and 2 female teachers<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 and injuring&nbsp;<strong>105 civilians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAC-M emphasized that ASEAN continues to&nbsp;<strong>take an unbalanced approach<\/strong>, remaining neutral between the junta\u2019s brutality against civilians and the legitimate defensive efforts of the resistance forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAC-M is composed of&nbsp;<strong>former United Nations officials and international experts<\/strong>, and actively documents and reports on&nbsp;<strong>human rights violations and atrocities<\/strong>&nbsp;committed by the junta since the military coup in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc<strong>&nbsp;3. SUNLONE Myanmar Sports Factory Accused of Overworking Staff and Denying Rest Days<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>May 30<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>Federation of General Workers Myanmar (FGWM)<\/strong>&nbsp;reported that the&nbsp;<strong>SUNLONE MYANMAR SPORTS CO., LTD<\/strong>&nbsp;factory, located near&nbsp;<strong>Nwa Kyan bus stop in Shwepyithar Industrial Zone<\/strong>, is forcing excessive overtime and denying rest days to its workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Chinese-owned backpack manufacturing factory<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Yangon Region\u2019s Shwepyithar Township<\/strong>&nbsp;has allegedly been making workers&nbsp;<strong>work overtime without rest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re working overtime every day without rest since April. Even if we request a single day off, it\u2019s denied. Over time, our health is deteriorating, and there are also safety concerns while commuting home,\u201d workers told FGWM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe, the younger female workers, have not been given any rest days since April. We are forced to work until&nbsp;<strong>8:30 PM daily<\/strong>. They said this schedule will continue until&nbsp;<strong>September<\/strong>. Over Twenty Thousand Arrested by Junta in Connection with the Coup; Over Ten Thousand Still Imprisoned<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been reported that in connection with the unlawful military coup, the junta has arrested more than 20,000 individuals, with over 10,000 of them currently being held in prisons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to data compiled by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), a total of&nbsp;<strong>29,203<\/strong>&nbsp;people have been arrested in relation to the military\u2019s illegitimate seizure of power.
