Justice For Myanmar Exposes 54 ASEAN-Based Companies Supporting Myanmar Military with Taxes, Jet Fuel, and Technology, Complicit in Atrocities

May 26

Justice For Myanmar (JFM) has released a report exposing 54 companies based in ASEAN countries that have supported the Myanmar military junta with tax payments, jet fuel, and various technologies, thereby contributing to grave crimes committed by the regime.

According to the report, these companies from ASEAN member states have maintained business relations with the junta and its military-controlled enterprises even after the attempted coup on February 1, 2021. Some of these companies have been named for the first time.

These businesses are said to be supporting the junta’s violent military operations against civilians through various means—including tax payments derived from military-controlled oil and gas, timber, and land leasing sectors, as well as the provision of jet fuel, telecommunications equipment, and surveillance technologies.

Justice For Myanmar spokesperson Yadanar Maung stated:

“ASEAN’s failure to address corporate complicity has enabled the Myanmar junta to escalate its campaign of terror. During its violent crackdown, the junta has massacred thousands of civilians and displaced millions. ASEAN must take concrete action. It is time to respect the rights and democratic aspirations of the people of Myanmar and end corporate complicity with the junta.”

Among the companies named in the report is Thailand’s partially state-owned PTTEP. The company is working in close collaboration with the junta on two major offshore gas projects, and its parent company PTT is reportedly financing military atrocities and crimes against humanity through revenue from gas sales.

Similarly, Malaysian oilfield service company ENRA Group has been providing infrastructure support—including gas storage and transport facilities—for the junta-linked Yetagun gas project. ENRA’s operations in Myanmar were cited as a major revenue source for the company in both 2023 and 2024.

========================

🚩🚩 3.
