It has been reported that Ko Htein Lin, son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, will attend the upcoming Citizen of Burma Award ceremony on her behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI will be attending the 2025 Citizen of Burma Award ceremony to be held in Houston, Texas, as a representative of my mother, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who remains unjustly detained by the military regime. I am deeply honored to accept this award in my mother’s name. Last year as well, I accepted the Honorary Citizenship award on her behalf in Abbiategrasso, Italy. Every one of these ceremonies fills me not only with the pride of being her son, but also with profound respect for her unwavering commitment to peace and democratic reform. I sincerely thank the Citizen of Burma Award Committee and all Burmese families abroad who continue to steadfastly support this cause. This award is not just for my mother\u2014it is also for the people of Myanmar who are bravely resisting the brutal military regime,\u201d Ko Htein Lin stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Citizen of Burma Award ceremony will take place on the afternoon of May 24<\/strong> in Houston, United States<\/strong>, and ministers from the National Unity Government (NUG)<\/strong> are also expected to attend the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the World Human Rights Cities Forum 2025<\/strong>, Union Minister U Aung Myo Min received a USD 2,000 donation<\/strong> from the event organizers to support earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 17<\/strong>, U Aung Myo Min, Union Minister of Human Rights of the National Unity Government (NUG)<\/strong>, attended the World Human Rights Cities Forum 2025<\/strong> held at the Kimdaejung Convention Center<\/strong> in Gwangju, South Korea<\/strong>, where he presented an update on the human rights situation in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the forum, the event organizing committee handed over USD 2,000<\/strong> to the Union Minister as a contribution toward earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the aftermath of recent earthquakes in Myanmar, the World Health Organization (WHO)<\/strong> has emphasized that safety and protection go beyond mere shelter and also include protection from disease outbreaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the swift collaboration between WHO and partner organizations, over 500 sets of mosquito nets and repellents<\/strong> have been distributed even in the most hard-to-reach areas of Mandalay Region<\/strong>. However, the earthquake crisis is far from over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, large numbers of displaced people are still taking refuge in temporary tents<\/strong>, crowded camps<\/strong>, and relatives\u2019 homes<\/strong>. According to WHO Myanmar, there is a critical and ongoing need for safe shelter<\/strong>, protection<\/strong>, and humanitarian support<\/strong> for those affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to continued aftershocks, many families have been forced to sleep on roadsides for weeks, exposing them to higher risks of vector-borne diseases<\/strong> such as dengue fever<\/strong> and avian influenza<\/strong>, WHO Myanmar further noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sagaing earthquake<\/strong>\u2014which struck with a magnitude of 7.7<\/strong> centered in Sagaing Region<\/strong> on March 28<\/strong>\u2014claimed the lives of over 3,000 people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SUU 80 Campaign has announced that it aims to set a world record by collecting a total of 80,000 short video messages containing birthday wishes<\/strong> for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a campaign to collect a total of 80,000 birthday wishes for \u2018Amay\u2019 (Mother Suu) and set a world record. The collection period will span 10 days\u2014from June 6 to June 16<\/strong>,\u201d the campaign stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the organizers, individuals who wish to submit their video messages can request a code from the official fundraisers of the SUU 80 Campaign. It is also noted that no monetary contribution is required<\/strong>\u2014anyone who loves and respects \u2018Amay\u2019 can participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 5. True Green Factory Workers Successfully Defend Union Leaders\u2019 Jobs Through Unified Protest<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been reported that factory workers demonstrated strong unity in response to the dismissal of union leaders at True Green<\/strong>, resulting in their immediate reinstatement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Employees at True Green Co., Ltd., located at Plot No. 135, Maha Myaing Road, Warta Ya Industrial Zone, Shwepyithar Township, Yangon Region, had previously submitted labor demands\u2014particularly for an increase in the minimum wage (MMK 6,800)<\/strong>\u2014as rising commodity prices had made the existing wage insufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amid these labor-related disputes, the factory manager reportedly summoned the remaining four executive committee (EC) members of the union<\/strong> to the office and informed them of their dismissal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the dismissals, from 4:30 p.m. onward<\/strong>, workers\u2014standing in solidarity with their union leaders\u2014refused to go home and remained at the factory for exactly six hours, until a reinstatement letter was issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is confirmed that, due to this display of unity and solidarity, the dismissed union leaders were reinstated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
