The Mechanism is calling on those who witnessed or have direct knowledge of the event to come forward with any evidence. More than 20 students were killed, and dozens were injured.”

The IIMM noted that this airstrike was one of several conducted in the aftermath of the powerful recent earthquake. It was carried out during a period when the junta had claimed to suspend offensive military operations.

The Mechanism emphasized that indiscriminate airstrikes on civilians may constitute war crimes or crimes against humanity. People’s Defense Forces’ community engagement is key to the Spring Revolution’s success

May 15
Radio NUG

The People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) are not only playing a role on the battlefield, but are also deeply engaging with communities, which is essential for the success of the Spring Revolution, according to statements from the PDF’s communications channel.

The statement noted that the success of a revolution does not rest solely on military strength—it fundamentally depends on public support, trust, and active participation. Thus, PDFs are not only involved in armed resistance but are also entering local communities to share knowledge about the revolution, boost morale, and build unity in opposition to military dictatorship.

The central tenet of the people’s war strategy is “revolution with the people.” To that end, PDFs are continually engaging with the public, explaining the goals of the revolution, the policies of the National Unity Government (NUG), and exposing the weaknesses of the military junta, thereby earning public trust.

At the township level, PDF representatives are meeting with the public at least four times per month to listen to concerns and address them. They are also regularly interacting with local civil society leaders, religious figures, and other influential community members, building localized trust. In particular, in areas with ethnic and religious minorities, the PDFs are holding regular dialogue with community leaders, promoting inclusive policies that respect equality, self-determination, and diversity.

To ensure the success of the revolution, PDFs must systematically carry out community mobilization in accordance with the NUG and Ministry of Defense’s policies, code of conduct, and laws.
