Military Bombs Monastery Shelter for IDPs in Banmaw

In Banmaw Town, the military junta bombed Taung Lay Lone Monastery located in Nyaung Pin Ward, which was being used as a shelter for internally displaced persons (IDPs), resulting in casualties, according to local sources.

On May 8, the junta carried out airstrikes using jet fighters targeting both the Kanna Yate Sa Monastery on Kanna Road and the Taung Lay Lone Monastery in Nyaung Pin Ward, where IDPs had sought refuge.

The bombing of the Kanna Yate Sa Monastery reportedly killed approximately 15 displaced civilians and injured more than 30 others.

However, over 380 remaining IDPs were successfully evacuated by local resistance forces, as reported by the Bamaw Scout Team, which monitors and shares updates from the region.

At Taung Lay Lone Monastery, the extent of casualties among displaced people remains unconfirmed at the time of reporting.

According to reports, while members of the Kachin People’s Defense Force (KPDF) and allied resistance units were in the process of evacuating IDPs from the Taung Lay Lone Monastery, junta aircraft dropped bombs weighing approximately 1,200 pounds into the monastery compound.

A video clip showing the junta’s bombing of the IDP shelter at Taung Lay Lone Monastery has been circulating on donation and resistance networks. The one-and-a-half-minute video shows hundreds of displaced persons preparing for relocation by KPDF troops when the airstrike occurred.

Resistance forces led by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) have been engaged in a campaign to seize control of Banmaw Town for over five months. During this period, extensive aerial bombardments and heavy artillery shelling by the junta have destroyed a significant number of civilian homes, according to reports from the ground.

========================

🚩🚩 2. Guerrilla Group Attacks Junta Battalion Gate in Hlaingtharya Township

In Yangon Region’s Hlaingtharya Township, guerrilla forces attacked the gate security post of the junta-affiliated Infantry Battalion 211 using hand grenades, according to the Yangon Army (YA) resistance group.

The attack occurred around 6:30 PM on May 10, targeting the gate of the 211th Light Infantry Battalion. Yangon Army stated that casualties on the junta side are possible.

The group reported that the grenade thrown by the resistance fighters exploded inside the gate security post, which led to the claimed damage.

Yangon Army also noted that on May 3, in collaboration with the western district cell of Pa Ka Pha (People’s Defense Forces under the NUG), they carried out a high-impact remote mine attack on the Taikkyi Police Station.

Yangon Army further stated their commitment to continue military operations until the terrorist military dictatorship is dismantled, and urged the public to remain informed and supportive.

========================

🚩🚩 3. Landmine Attack on Junta Troops Harassing Civilians Near Myingyan’s Car Yard

In Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, the Myingyan Black Tiger (MBT) resistance force launched a landmine attack on a junta troop unit that was oppressing and interrogating civilians near the northern area of the local car yard, the group reported.

The attack occurred around 10:45 AM on May 10. One junta soldier was reportedly seriously injured and is currently receiving treatment at Myingyan General Hospital.

As this is preliminary information, the extent of junta casualties is still under investigation, the group noted.

MBT also stated that while they had initially planned three simultaneous missions in Myingyan Town, two had to be aborted. This decision was made because some local civilians were seen engaging in prolonged conversations with junta troops, raising security concerns.

The group earnestly requested the public not to engage in extended close interactions or conversations with junta forces in order to avoid compromising future resistance missions.

========================

🚩🚩 4.
