The definition of a&nbsp;<strong>massacre<\/strong>&nbsp;in the Ministry\u2019s database refers specifically to incidents in which&nbsp;<strong>five or more people were killed in a single event<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As presented in the latest&nbsp;<strong>dashboard<\/strong>, the 378 incidents and 4,023 deaths occurred between&nbsp;<strong>February 2021<\/strong>, when the junta attempted to seize power, and&nbsp;<strong>April 2025<\/strong>. All data included reflects atrocities committed during this period of military oppression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc<strong>&nbsp;4.&nbsp;<\/strong><strong><em>Deaths in Detention: 23 People Killed in Custody by the Military Junta Between January 1 and May 8, 2025<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May 8 \u2013 Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to data collected by the&nbsp;<strong>Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP)<\/strong>, a total of&nbsp;<strong>23 individuals<\/strong>&nbsp;died while in detention across the country from&nbsp;<strong>January 1 to May 8, 2025<\/strong>, after being arrested and held by the terrorist military junta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The breakdown of the deaths is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4 men<\/strong>&nbsp;died in military interrogation centers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3 men<\/strong>&nbsp;died at police stations, and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>16 inmates<\/strong>&nbsp;(including&nbsp;<strong>9 women<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>7 men<\/strong>) died in prisons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These deaths have been individually verified and documented by name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One such case was&nbsp;<strong>Myint Myint Than<\/strong>, a political prisoner detained at&nbsp;<strong>Obo Prison in Aungmyaythazan Township, Mandalay Region<\/strong>, who suffered from a lung disease. She was denied adequate medical care while imprisoned, and her condition deteriorated. On&nbsp;<strong>May 6, 2025<\/strong>, she was transferred to&nbsp;<strong>Mandalay General Hospital<\/strong>, but died on the same day during treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myint Myint Than had been&nbsp;<strong>arrested on July 27, 2023<\/strong>, by the junta and charged under&nbsp;<strong>Section 52(a) of the Counter-Terrorism Law<\/strong>. On&nbsp;<strong>December 23, 2024<\/strong>, she was sentenced to&nbsp;<strong>five years in prison<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc<strong>&nbsp;5.&nbsp;<\/strong><strong><em>Call for Participation in the Upcoming &#8220;Weaponization of Aid&#8221; Campaign<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May 8 \u2013 Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Blood Money Campaign MM<\/strong>&nbsp;has issued a call urging the public and organizations to actively participate in the upcoming&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;Weaponization of Aid&#8221; campaign<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The campaign denounces the fact that, during the recent earthquake relief period, the&nbsp;<strong>terrorist military junta conducted over 280 aerial attacks<\/strong>, showing that such airstrikes are a deliberate and systematic method of warfare long employed by the junta, even prior to the earthquake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese brutal aerial assaults, which continued&nbsp;<em>daily<\/em>&nbsp;even during the disaster response period, are an undeniable reality. Though the junta announced a ceasefire on April 2, they bombed&nbsp;<strong>Kachin State and Sagaing Region<\/strong>&nbsp;within hours of that declaration,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From&nbsp;<strong>March 28 to May 4<\/strong>, the junta carried out a total of&nbsp;<strong>282 airstrikes<\/strong>, killing&nbsp;<strong>276 civilians<\/strong>&nbsp;and injuring&nbsp;<strong>456 others<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile our people are suffering as if they are living in a literal hell, the terrorist junta shows no empathy and continues to traumatize them with deeper nightmares and painful memories. To bring down this violent regime with united strength, we must raise a unified voice and send a clear message of resistance,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The campaign also emphasizes the junta\u2019s misuse of humanitarian aid:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHumanitarian aid, instead of reaching the people, is being used as a&nbsp;<strong>weapon by the junta<\/strong>. It is crucial to develop alternative and effective channels to ensure aid genuinely reaches those in need.
