Three armed Pyusawhti militiamen were shot dead during a clearance operation conducted at a liquor shop in downtown Palaw, Tanintharyi Region, according to a statement released today (May 7) by the Myeik District Battalion 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The operation took place at San Win Liquor Shop, located in Ward No. 2 of Palaw town, where three Pyusawhti members\u2014Kular Ni<\/em> and Kyaw Thuraya<\/em>, both reported as leaders, along with Than Naing<\/em>\u2014were reportedly intoxicated and causing a disturbance. They were shot and killed at around 5:30 p.m. on May 6 in a joint operation by Myeik District Battalion 1 and Myeik District People’s Defense Force (PaKaPha) Joint Task Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement also noted that the deceased Pyusawhti members had actively participated in criminal and oppressive acts in the region, including extorting and threatening civilians, abducting individuals, collecting illegal gate fees, and forcibly conscripting youth into military service. They were also allegedly involved in setting fire to civilian homes during clashes across Palaw Township.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A pistol, ammunition, and some cash were recovered from the bodies of the deceased, according to sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Junta forces suffered casualties during an attack on their checkpoint stationed at an agricultural camp in Sin Myin Swel Town, Thegon Township, Bago Region, according to a statement released today (May 7) by Battalion 3601 of the People’s Defense Force (PDF), based in Pyay District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack was carried out by Platoon 5 of Battalion 3601 at around 9:00 p.m. on May 5. The target was a junta checkpoint embedded within the agricultural facility in Sin Myin Swel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PDF sources stated that junta troops sustained fatalities and injuries in the assault. The wounded and deceased were reportedly evacuated toward Pyay overnight, and further verification is underway to confirm exact casualty figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although junta forces returned fire during the clash, no PDF fighters were harmed, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pyay District Battalion 3601 of the People’s Defense Force urged the general public not to support junta forces in any form\u2014including manpower, financial assistance, or by providing motorcycles and vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A soldier from the junta\u2019s Aung Zeya military column defected with a firearm and was rewarded MMK 3 million, according to a statement by Strategy Group 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 30, three junta soldiers from the Aung Zeya column\u2014stationed along the Asia Highway\u2014defected to Strategy Group 31. Among them, one brought along a firearm, 390 rounds of ammunition, and six magazines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The soldier who defected with the weapon was given a cash reward of MMK 3 million, while the remaining two were awarded MMK 500,000 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement clarified that the information was only being released now because the defection occurred during a time when the public was in mourning due to the recent earthquake disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aung Zeya Column, part of the junta\u2019s effort to regain control of the Asia Highway, has been under frequent attack by Strategy Groups 31 and 32, along with allied revolutionary forces. As a result, the junta has suffered heavy casualties in the ongoing clashes, according to military reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the eastern part of Kawlin Township, Sagaing Region<\/strong>, homes and electricity poles were damaged after the military conducted an airstrike targeting civilian populations, according to local resistance forces and news sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At approximately 1:05 AM<\/strong> on May 7<\/strong>, the terrorist military<\/strong> reportedly dropped two bombs<\/strong> using a fighter jet<\/strong>. The Kawlin People\u2019s Defence Force (PDF) stated that the jet flew in from the direction of Tanda Bridge<\/strong>, carrying out the airstrike without any ground combat occurring in the area, and that the civilian population was deliberately targeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airstrike resulted in damage to the home of U Maung Wai<\/strong> in Shauk Pin Chone Village<\/strong>, and nearby electricity poles were also destroyed<\/strong>, according to the local news outlet Kawlin Info<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although the attack occurred around midnight, it has been reported that no civilian casualties<\/strong> were sustained, as residents were able to flee to safety<\/strong> in time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April, the junta intensified the use of airstrikes<\/strong>, particularly targeting civilians affected by natural disasters<\/strong>, in greater frequency than in previous months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign will run for 45 days<\/strong>, from May 7 to June 22<\/strong>. According to the organizers, the objective is to minimize the loss of lives<\/strong> of veteran and new revolutionary fighters who are serving on the front lines by providing critical support through this fundraising initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
