Saw Chit Thu\u2019s Family and the BGF (KNA) for Involvement in Kyarpyaint Scams and Transnational Crimes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May 6<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>May 5<\/strong>, the&nbsp;<strong>U.S. Department of the Treasury<\/strong>&nbsp;announced new sanctions targeting&nbsp;<strong>Major Saw Chit Thu<\/strong>, the leader of the&nbsp;<strong>Border Guard Force (BGF)<\/strong>, along with his two sons,&nbsp;<strong>Saw Htoo A Moo<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Saw Chit Chit<\/strong>, and the&nbsp;<strong>Karen National Army (KNA)<\/strong>\u2014the renamed BGF\u2014for involvement in&nbsp;<strong>cyber scams, human trafficking<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>cross-border organized crime<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BGF (or KNA), which controls parts of the&nbsp;<strong>Thai\u2013Myanmar border<\/strong>, including the town of&nbsp;<strong>Myawaddy<\/strong>, has been accused of collaborating with&nbsp;<strong>foreign criminal syndicates<\/strong>&nbsp;to establish bases for fraudulent operations such as the notorious&nbsp;<strong>Shwe Kokko project<\/strong>. These scam operations reportedly&nbsp;<strong>target U.S. citizens<\/strong>&nbsp;and have caused&nbsp;<strong>billions of dollars in losses<\/strong>, the U.S. Treasury stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Michael J. Galvin<\/strong>, U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, remarked:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThese cyber scam networks generate billions in revenue for criminal ringleaders and inflict severe harm on their victims. Women and Children Protection Training Delivered in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, Led by Human Rights Officer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May 6<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Women and Children Protection training course was conducted in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, led by the local human rights officer and attended by members of the local community, including women and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The training covered topics such as women&#8217;s rights, the National Unity Government\u2019s (NUG) policy on child protection, child rights, and the six grave violations committed against children, as outlined by international and NUG standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 50 participants, including local women and children, attended the training. Basic Ta&#8217;ang Literacy Training Completion Ceremony Held in Bawmonsanpya Village by TLA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May 6<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a statement released by the Ta&#8217;ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), a Basic Ta&#8217;ang Literacy training completion ceremony was held on&nbsp;<strong>May 4<\/strong>&nbsp;from&nbsp;<strong>9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon<\/strong>&nbsp;in Bawmonsanpya Village, located in&nbsp;<strong>Mogok Township<\/strong>. The event was organized and led by the&nbsp;<strong>Ta&#8217;ang Literature and Culture Committee (TLA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The training was attended by&nbsp;<strong>30 students<\/strong>, including&nbsp;<strong>9 male<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>21 female<\/strong>&nbsp;participants. This initiative has now begun to materialize on the ground.
