Fortify Rights Calls on UN Security Council to Impose Arms and Aviation Fuel Embargo on Myanmar Junta<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortify Rights issued a statement urging the United Nations Security Council to impose a ban on aviation fuel and arms exports to Myanmar\u2019s military junta, in order to prevent ongoing targeted attacks on civilians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite declaring a ceasefire, the junta has continued launching deadly airstrikes, including attacks on religious buildings sheltering earthquake survivors, the organization reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince April 2, the military junta has carried out intense aerial attacks even in earthquake-affected areas, resulting in civilian deaths, including children. Bodies of Women and Children Recovered from Rubble of Collapsed Sky Villa in Mandalay<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May 2<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On May 2, search and recovery operations continued at the collapsed Sky Villa apartment complex in Mandalay City. Debris was cleared from buildings B, C, and D using machinery to recover bodies trapped beneath the rubble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 10:40 a.m., the body of one deceased individual was retrieved from Room P4 of Building C. At approximately 12:55 p.m., two more bodies\u2014one woman and one child\u2014were recovered from the elevator shaft of the same building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further recoveries occurred throughout the afternoon:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At 4:00 p.m., one body (female) was retrieved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At 4:15 p.m., another woman\u2019s body was recovered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At 4:20 p.m., yet another female body was found.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The building collapsed as a result of the powerful earthquake on March 28, which struck Sagaing Region and caused the deaths of over 3,000 people.
