During the assault, they reportedly seized the bodies of 13 junta troops—including members of the People’s Militia under military command—as well as weapons and ammunition. The remaining soldiers reportedly fled southward toward Sutawng Hill.

KIA and KPDF joint forces pursued the fleeing soldiers and engaged them near Sutawng Hill, successfully capturing one junta soldier alive. The allied forces have since taken control of Sutawng Hill, sources added.

In the early morning hours of May 2, KIA and KPDF joint units also launched a drone bombing attack on a junta column advancing toward Nan Yar Village along the Myitkyina-Hpakant Road, according to regional reports.

It is reported that the military council has deployed an estimated 600 troops in multiple columns for this offensive, leading to continuous clashes with joint KIA and KPDF forces.

Due to the intensifying battles, residents from at least ten villages along the Myitkyina-Hpakant route have been forced to flee their homes, becoming internally displaced by the fighting.

========================

🚩🚩 2. Military Council Launches Airstrikes on Nawnghkio Township

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported that the military council launched airstrikes and artillery shelling on Nawnghkio Township in the 2nd Military Region of Ta’ang territory.

On May 1 at around 6:45 p.m., the junta carried out an airstrike using a fighter jet to drop two bombs on Lon Kham Village in Nawnghkio Township.

Additionally, the military council launched drone bombings and artillery shelling using 120mm howitzers from its 354th base located in Taung Khan Village, targeting areas where TNLA forces were present, according to the TNLA’s announcement.

Furthermore, the TNLA stated that on the night of April 30, without any active clashes occurring, the junta also bombed areas in Mogok Township, Mandalay Region. Around 8:30 p.m., airstrikes were conducted between Thit Seint Kone and Kyauk Pot Villages in western Mogok.

Although the junta had declared a nationwide ceasefire until the end of April, it has escalated its aerial assaults across the country, the TNLA stated.

According to data from TNLA’s Information and Communication Department, during aerial attacks on TNLA-controlled Nawnghkio Township throughout April, the junta dropped 37 poison gas bombs and 32 fragmentation bombs, and fired 26 artillery shells.

The military council is not only reinforcing its troops and launching offensives in areas administered by the Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF/TNLA), but it has also deliberately carried out airstrikes on civilian-populated areas where no clashes were taking place. The TNLA urged civilians to remain vigilant and adhere to air-raid precautionary measures.

========================

🚩🚩 3. The junta, having suffered losses in these clashes, has resorted to using heavy artillery, drones, and aircraft to carry out indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas without direct engagement.

Due to these relentless airstrikes by the junta, innocent civilians are living in constant fear, and the number of internally displaced people continues to rise daily.

========================

🚩🚩 4.
