Following the powerful earthquake that struck Sagaing Region, the deteriorating and unrepaired infrastructure of Obo Prison\u2014an aging facility\u2014collapsed, resulting in extensive damage. According to information from within the prison, more than 280 inmates sustained injuries<\/strong>, and at least 30 individuals, including 10 male and 10 female political prisoners<\/strong>, lost their lives. In response, seven organizations, including PPNM<\/strong>, have issued a joint statement addressing the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement notes that, while significant damage likely occurred on the ground, the political prisoners detained inside Obo Prison were severely impacted by the earthquake<\/strong>, yet have received neither international humanitarian assistance nor domestic support<\/strong> to this day. Moreover, the prison remains cut off from public attention<\/strong>, as it remains under an information blackout<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The military junta<\/strong>, the statement claims, has deliberately concealed the extent of deaths and damages inside the prison<\/strong>, and is now intensifying threats<\/strong> to transfer surviving political prisoners to other prisons<\/strong>. Political detainees, already physically and mentally traumatized<\/strong> by the quake, are reportedly not receiving sufficient medical care<\/strong> and are facing threats and oppression from prison authorities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the compromised structural integrity of the prison buildings, detainees are being forced to remain inside<\/strong>, and those who resist orders are being threatened with relocation to Thayarwaddy Prison<\/strong>. Ongoing aftershocks further heighten the risk of sudden death at any time<\/strong>, and prisoners now live in constant fear under harsh conditions<\/strong>, sandwiched between threats of violence and the collapse of unsafe facilities<\/strong>, the statement emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signatories of the joint statement urge international human rights organizations, including the United Nations<\/strong>, to closely monitor and pressure the junta<\/strong> to end its brutal and oppressive treatment<\/strong> of political prisoners in Myanmar\u2019s detention centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) officer<\/strong> reportedly served as the instructor at the first session<\/strong> of an advanced communications training<\/strong> organized by the Mon Liberation Army (MLA)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The instructor, Captain Bhone Thaik<\/strong>, a former member of the junta’s Communications Unit who joined the CDM, contributed to the revolutionary cause by sharing his knowledge in this critical field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first session of the weekly advanced communications course<\/strong> was attended by members of the Mon Liberation Army<\/strong>, including troops from the Pyann Hlwa Column<\/strong> and the Lion Battalion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training covered essential topics such as frequency spectrum management and communications security<\/strong>. On behalf of the revolutionary forces, the Mon Liberation Army expressed deep appreciation<\/strong> to Captain Bhone Thaik for his contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A \u201cYaung Ni\u201d fundraising concert<\/strong> featuring revolutionary artists Lin Lin and Chit Su Wai<\/strong> is set to take place on May 25<\/strong> in Boston, United States<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets for the concert are already on sale, and proceeds from the event will be allocated to support families involved in the revolution<\/strong>\u2014including those of fallen soldiers, CDM families, political activists, and political prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The previous \u201cYaung Ni\u201d concert<\/strong>, held on April 12 in Maryland<\/strong>, raised over USD 145,765<\/strong>, and an advance donation of 12 million Myanmar Kyat<\/strong> from ticket sales was immediately sent to earthquake-affected regions as emergency aid<\/strong>, sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organizers reaffirmed that each ticket buyer is not just an attendee but a donor<\/strong>, and that the Yaung Ni team abroad stands united with the people inside Myanmar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Moe Bye People’s Defense Force<\/strong>, based in Moe Bye, Pekon Township, southern Shan State<\/strong>, has launched a campaign titled \u201cProject Buffalo \u2013 500 Lakhs Car Campaign\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In light of intensifying military operations<\/strong>, the group faces critical shortages of weapons, ammunition, and logistics<\/strong>. The car campaign aims to enhance rapid deployment capability<\/strong>, including timely access to strategic points<\/strong>, transportation of military supplies<\/strong>, and emergency medical evacuation of injured fighters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign seeks to raise 50 million Myanmar Kyat (5 Lakhs = 500 Lakhs)<\/strong> to purchase a vehicle and cover necessary fuel expenses. The campaign will run from April 20 to May 20, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Moe Bye PDF calls on supporters inside and outside the country<\/strong> to join \u201cProject Buffalo\u201d by helping procure the urgently needed vehicle<\/strong>, and thus contribute meaningfully<\/strong> to the revolutionary efforts through their hard-earned savings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
