A spokesperson from the Chin National Organization\/Chin National Defense Force (CNO\/CNDF) stated during an online ceremony commemorating the capture of Falam City on April 19 that nearly all junta troops who fled during the battle for Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 268 in Falam, including their highest-ranking officer, have been recaptured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs of now, nearly all of the troops who fled from LIB-268 are in our custody. Their top officer, G1, attempted to escape. As of today, we have 175 of them in our hands, from the highest rank down to the lowest. Last year, it was around 120. Altogether, it\u2019s over 300. They are being treated properly. Among them are more than 60 women and children,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the CNO\/CNDF confirmed that the resistance forces seized approximately 500 small and heavy weapons from the junta during the Falam operation, along with a large quantity of ammunition, drones, and related equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe also suffered losses, as previously announced. A total of 89 revolutionary fighters gave their lives, 56 of whom were from the Chin National Organization,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNO has stated that it has fully regained control over Falam City as of April 9, 2025. Once clearance and stabilization operations are complete, the city will be returned to the people as swiftly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 2. Junta Soldier from Pakokku-Based 235th Battalion Killed by Landmine in Salin Township<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

April 19 \u2014 Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A soldier from the 235th Infantry Battalion under Pakokku-based Division 101, led by junta Major Sit Yan Naing, was killed by a landmine while advancing into Salin Township, Minbu District, according to the Daung Nyi Naung Urban Guerrilla Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group stated that the soldier’s body was discovered on April 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also invited junta soldiers seeking to defect from their units in Salin Township to reach out via the phone number 09407401533<\/strong> or through Telegram: @PeacockBrother<\/strong> for safe entry and assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 3. Junta Drops 500-lb Bombs and Cluster Bombs on Kyauk Taw Town, Killing Civilian<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The military junta conducted airstrikes on Kyauk Taw, a town in Rakhine State, using rocket bombs, a 500-pound bomb, and eleven cluster bombs, resulting in the death of one civilian, according to the Humanitarian and Development Coordinate Organization (HDCO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airstrikes began at 2:39 AM<\/strong> on April 19, when a jet fighter launched a rocket bomb over the neighborhoods of Pyitawtha<\/strong>, Myothit<\/strong>, and Shan Ywa<\/strong> in Kyauk Taw. This was followed at 2:44 AM<\/strong> by the dropping of a 500-lb bomb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 2:47 AM<\/strong>, a second jet fighter dropped four cluster bombs, and at 2:51 AM<\/strong>, a third jet fighter released an additional seven cluster bombs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of these attacks, one civilian was killed, and approximately 20 people<\/strong> were injured. Among the injured were six children<\/strong> and nine women<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of particular concern, cluster bombs\u2014which often leave behind unexploded submunitions\u2014were used in the attack. Initial assessments indicate that some of these unexploded bomblets remain scattered near civilian areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The use of such hazardous weapons in populated areas not only poses an ongoing risk to civilians but also severely hampers humanitarian efforts. The deliberate targeting of civilian areas with these weapons constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 4. 24 Civilians, Including Young Children, Killed in Junta Airstrike on Yet Htwet Village<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The military junta carried out an aerial bombardment on Yet Htwet Village<\/strong> in Thabeikkyin Township<\/strong>, Mandalay Region, killing 24 civilians<\/strong>, including young children, according to Pa Ka Pha (People\u2019s Defense Forces) of Thabeikkyin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At approximately 1:00 PM<\/strong> on April 19, a jet fighter dropped two 200-pound bombs on a local fuel station in Yet Htwet Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bombs ignited a massive fire at the fuel station, causing a powerful explosion that killed 24 civilians, including toddlers aged two and three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 20 people<\/strong> sustained injuries, with several in critical condition and facing life-threatening situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the previous day<\/strong>, April 18, at around 10:00 AM<\/strong>, the junta also dropped a 300-pound bomb on Leik Kya Village<\/strong> in Thabeikkyin Township, killing 13 civilians<\/strong> and leaving three others<\/strong> in serious condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later that same day, around 4:30 PM<\/strong>, another airstrike was carried out at a road junction in Yet Htwet Village, continuing the military\u2019s relentless campaign of aerial bombardments against civilian populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udea9\ud83d\udea9 5. Military Junta Drops 500-lb Bomb on Min Saw Village; Three Killed Including a Karen Monk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In territory under the control of the Karen National Union (KNU), Min Saw Village in Bilin Township, Thaton District, under Military Region (1), was bombarded by a 500-pound bomb dropped by the military junta, killing three people including a Karen monk, according to local sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airstrike reportedly took place at 11:10 AM on April 19<\/strong>, during the monks\u2019 alms meal time, when a 500-pound bomb was dropped on the Min Saw Village monastery<\/strong> by junta forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of the bombing, one young Karen monk and two local laywomen<\/strong>\u2014both members of the monastery community\u2014were killed. At least 10 others, including monks<\/strong>, were injured, local sources added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The monastery\u2019s dining hall<\/strong> was also destroyed in the airstrike. Due to the threat of further aerial attacks, villagers have fled and are now in hiding<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also noted that the Min Saw (Khapo Palay) village\u2019s school and monastery were previously bombed by the junta on March 23, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Zalen News Agency, over 20 civilian houses in Chaungnakgyi Ward of Tamu Town, Sagaing Region<\/strong>, are being destroyed and seized<\/strong> by pro-junta Pyusawhti militia members<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The homes and belongings being destroyed are reportedly being used to reconstruct houses for the Pyusawhti militias themselves<\/strong>, while some items are being sold as part of a fundraising campaign<\/strong> led by Pyusawhti leader and artist Chanmyae<\/strong> from Ward No. 12, according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a recent community meeting, Chanmyae informed displaced residents<\/strong>\u2014who had fled due to armed conflict and Pyusawhti activity\u2014that homes left uninhabited would be dismantled<\/strong> and used to house homeless Pyusawhti members<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents of Chaungnakgyi Ward had already fled the area since 2024<\/strong> due to ongoing conflict, and were again forced to flee in January 2025<\/strong> following news of a looming junta offensive. As of now, the ward is almost completely deserted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At approximately 11:40 AM on April 19<\/strong>, Kan Taw Village in Yinmabin Township<\/strong> came under aerial bombardment by the military junta<\/strong>, resulting in civilian casualties including children<\/strong>, according to local reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exact number of casualties<\/strong> has not yet been independently confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF)<\/strong> announced that a formation and graduation ceremony<\/strong> for SSNDF\/KNDF Battalion 9<\/strong>, based in Southern Shan State<\/strong>, was held on April 19<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Military training for SSNDF\/KNDF Battalion 9<\/strong> began on February 11, 2025<\/strong>, and was successfully completed on April 17<\/strong>, according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony featured military demonstrations<\/strong> by the graduates, flag-raising<\/strong>, a pledge of allegiance<\/strong>, and unit inspections<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following these activities, speeches were delivered by senior officials from both the KNDF Central Committee<\/strong> and Battalion 9 Command<\/strong>, and refreshments were provided for the attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Battalion 9 was formed through the consolidation of various units and drone teams<\/strong> previously operating in Southern Shan State. The battalion now comprises SSNDF\/KNDF B-101, B-102, and B-103<\/strong>, as per the announcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
