Prime Minister Mann Win Khaing Than extended New Year wishes, expressing hope that the new year would mark a promising beginning for the reconstruction of a new Federal Democratic Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAt a time when people are suffering the loss of family members and homes due to not only the oppression and killings by the brutal military junta but also the recent natural disasters such as earthquakes, we must stand in unity and solidarity, offering mutual support and comfort to one another,\u201d he said. \u201cMay this New Year usher in progress and success for the revolution, help heal the people\u2019s losses and pain, and serve as a meaningful beginning for the establishment of a new Federal Democratic Union,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Acting President, the Prime Minister, and other Union Ministers are currently working in collaboration with resistance forces across the country to ensure the earliest possible success of the Spring Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the Myanmar New Year, the Committee Representing the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) extended heartfelt wishes to all ethnic nationalities and citizens across the country as well as those living abroad, hoping that they may be free from harm and conflict, and enjoy security and the full exercise of their human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CRPH noted that the Thingyan Festival has long been a cherished tradition in Myanmar, marking the transition from the old year to the new with acts of merit, the promotion of virtuous deeds, and joyful water celebrations enjoyed by people of all ethnicities and religions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, they acknowledged that the current situation in Myanmar is extraordinarily difficult, as the people are suffering not only from natural disasters but also from the constant and deliberate atrocities committed by the terrorist military junta\u2014atrocities far more severe than any natural calamity, as innocent civilians are murdered and tortured daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CRPH declared that Myanmar Year 1387, beginning with this New Year\u2019s Day, must not only mark a new calendar year but also herald a transformative shift in governance. It urged all citizens of the Federal Union to resolutely unite and continue striving for the creation of a genuine Federal Democratic Union, a goal long yearned for by the people. They reaffirmed this as their New Year\u2019s pledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Unity Government (NUG) expressed gratitude to the Government of Thailand for the assistance, support, and protection provided to Myanmar\u2019s displaced civilians affected by armed conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its New Year\u2019s greeting message sent today, April 17, to the Thai government, the NUG specifically acknowledged and appreciated Thailand\u2019s past efforts to aid Myanmar nationals. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the NUG also extended New Year blessings, wishing that those residing in Thailand may live peacefully and prosperously, free from fear and danger during the Thai New Year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NUG emphasized that Thailand and Myanmar are not only long-standing neighboring countries with centuries of shared history but also friendly nations that have exchanged cultural ties and mutual respect over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NUG highlighted that the strong foundations of mutual understanding and cooperation between the peoples of both countries had enabled them to overcome numerous challenges and build stronger, deeper regional partnerships that yield genuine benefits across all sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It further expressed appreciation for Thailand\u2019s previous support, including humanitarian assistance for Myanmar\u2019s conflict-affected populations and the provision of employment opportunities for Myanmar migrant workers living in Thailand. The NUG reiterated that these contributions are remembered with sincere gratitude and will continue to be honored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, the NUG wished that the people of both nations would continue to maintain peaceful relations, strengthen their bonds of friendship, and enjoy a successful, prosperous, and peaceful new year together. In its statement commemorating the fourth anniversary of its founding on April 16, 2025, the National Unity Government (NUG) reported that its Ministry of Education has been actively cooperating with a total of 21 international universities and institutions to deliver educational services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among these partnerships, the NUG noted that Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) have been signed with institutions such as Korea University and Arizona State University to strengthen international cooperation in education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry also disclosed that its total budget for the 2024 fiscal year amounted to MMK 5.527 billion (Myanmar Kyat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the past four years, the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs under the National Unity Government (NUG) has implemented initiatives to support women\u2019s increased participation in politics by providing technological tools and financial assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs under the NUG has now completed its four-year term in the Spring Revolution. Throughout this period, the ministry has played an important role in shaping the future of the nation and has continuously strived to improve the quality of life for women, youth, and children,\u201d the ministry stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of its achievements, the ministry has established policies to enhance women\u2019s capabilities in economic, social, and political spheres. It has also provided assistance for the protection of displaced women against gender-based violence and offered support to survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For youth, the ministry organized vocational and entrepreneurship training programs to promote employment opportunities and extended support for the safety and development of politically active youth through ongoing initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 6. The NUG Continues Ground-Level Judicial Processes Through 29 Township-Level Courts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the formation of the National Unity Government on April 16, 2025, the Judiciary Division released a report highlighting its operational progress:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs of the end of 2024, a total of 31 township-level courts and one interim appellate court had been established. A total of 149 judges\u2014including 100 male and 49 female judges\u2014have been appointed,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of these, 111 judges are currently operating in 29 township courts, carrying out judicial proceedings on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, 31 township legal offices have also been established. To provide legal counsel and conduct case-related proceedings, 40 legal officers were appointed, including 18 township legal officers, 20 deputy township legal officers, and 2 associate legal officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThingyan marks a joyful and refreshing transition from the old year to the new. But this year, it is a time of sorrow for all. From violent attacks to the recent devastating earthquake, the people of Myanmar have been enduring intense suffering. The loss of lives and the destruction of cherished historical landmarks due to the earthquake bring profound sadness and grief. Despite these challenges, the spirit of our people remains strong and unwavering. Let it be known that no one is suffering alone\u2014we are all in this together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sagaing earthquake that struck on March 28 claimed over 3,000 lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHaving witnessed the bravery and compassion of Myanmar families firsthand has only deepened my hope and faith. I offer my heartfelt New Year wishes for strength and peace as our people heal emotionally. Let us continue to strive together for a just and hopeful future that shines like a torch,\u201d Ko Htein Lin added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The British government will continue supporting the peaceful democratic future that the people of Myanmar strive for, said British Ambassador to Myanmar Ken O\u2019Flaherty in a televised message on April 17, the first day of the Myanmar New Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOn this traditional New Year occasion, I extend my best wishes for safety, good health, and inner peace to the people of Myanmar,\u201d said Ambassador O\u2019Flaherty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that he and his colleagues are deeply mindful of the recent devastating earthquake and its impact on the affected communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He acknowledged that the earthquake and its aftermath have further exacerbated the hardships faced by Myanmar\u2019s already struggling population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEven in these extremely difficult times, I deeply admire the resilient spirit and the solidarity of the people of Myanmar in helping one another,\u201d the ambassador said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He reaffirmed that the UK government is firmly committed to supporting the people of Myanmar and has pledged up to \u00a325 million in aid for those affected by the earthquake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this government support, the UK public has also contributed generously through a dedicated fundraising campaign for Myanmar earthquake relief. On the very first day of the campaign, \u00a37.5 million was raised, with the amount continuing to grow steadily, according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
