It urged all citizens of the Federal Union to resolutely unite and continue striving for the creation of a genuine Federal Democratic Union, a goal long yearned for by the people. NUG Thanks Thai Government for Its Support to Myanmar\u2019s Conflict-Affected Displaced People<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Unity Government (NUG) expressed gratitude to the Government of Thailand for the assistance, support, and protection provided to Myanmar\u2019s displaced civilians affected by armed conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its New Year\u2019s greeting message sent today, April 17, to the Thai government, the NUG specifically acknowledged and appreciated Thailand\u2019s past efforts to aid Myanmar nationals. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the NUG also extended New Year blessings, wishing that those residing in Thailand may live peacefully and prosperously, free from fear and danger during the Thai New Year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NUG emphasized that Thailand and Myanmar are not only long-standing neighboring countries with centuries of shared history but also friendly nations that have exchanged cultural ties and mutual respect over the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NUG highlighted that the strong foundations of mutual understanding and cooperation between the peoples of both countries had enabled them to overcome numerous challenges and build stronger, deeper regional partnerships that yield genuine benefits across all sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It further expressed appreciation for Thailand\u2019s previous support, including humanitarian assistance for Myanmar\u2019s conflict-affected populations and the provision of employment opportunities for Myanmar migrant workers living in Thailand. Throughout this period, the ministry has played an important role in shaping the future of the nation and has continuously strived to improve the quality of life for women, youth, and children,\u201d the ministry stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of its achievements, the ministry has established policies to enhance women\u2019s capabilities in economic, social, and political spheres. The NUG Continues Ground-Level Judicial Processes Through 29 Township-Level Courts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the formation of the National Unity Government on April 16, 2025, the Judiciary Division released a report highlighting its operational progress:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs of the end of 2024, a total of 31 township-level courts and one interim appellate court had been established. A total of 149 judges\u2014including 100 male and 49 female judges\u2014have been appointed,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of these, 111 judges are currently operating in 29 township courts, carrying out judicial proceedings on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, 31 township legal offices have also been established. UK Government Pledges Continued Support for Myanmar\u2019s Democratic Aspirations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 17<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The British government will continue supporting the peaceful democratic future that the people of Myanmar strive for, said British Ambassador to Myanmar Ken O\u2019Flaherty in a televised message on April 17, the first day of the Myanmar New Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn this traditional New Year occasion, I extend my best wishes for safety, good health, and inner peace to the people of Myanmar,\u201d said Ambassador O\u2019Flaherty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that he and his colleagues are deeply mindful of the recent devastating earthquake and its impact on the affected communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He acknowledged that the earthquake and its aftermath have further exacerbated the hardships faced by Myanmar\u2019s already struggling population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEven in these extremely difficult times, I deeply admire the resilient spirit and the solidarity of the people of Myanmar in helping one another,\u201d the ambassador said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He reaffirmed that the UK government is firmly committed to supporting the people of Myanmar and has pledged up to \u00a325 million in aid for those affected by the earthquake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to this government support, the UK public has also contributed generously through a dedicated fundraising campaign for Myanmar earthquake relief.
