\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 1. Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Reaffirms Recognition of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 9, during the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the IPU Executive Committee reaffirmed its recognition of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), according to reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the 142nd IPU Assembly held in March 2021\u2014following the unlawful military coup in Myanmar\u2014the Inter-Parliamentary Union has recognized the CRPH as the legitimate parliamentary body representing the people of Myanmar. The decision allowed CRPH delegates to participate as observers in IPU assemblies, symbolizing international recognition of their representative legitimacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, the CRPH representatives participated in IPU meetings virtually. From March 2023 onwards, starting with the 146th Assembly held in Manama, Bahrain, they have attended in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This continued recognition by the IPU\u2014a global organization composed of over 180 national parliaments\u2014represents the international community\u2019s respect for the Myanmar people’s unwavering aspiration for democracy and their ongoing resistance against the illegitimate military regime, the CRPH stated in its official release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 2. NUG Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Provides Earthquake Relief Funding and Aid Updates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Unity Government\u2019s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management announced that, as of April 8, it has disbursed a total of MMK 1,656,783,000 in relief funding across 31 earthquake-affected townships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fund distribution by region is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mandalay Region: MMK 954,083,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bago Region: MMK 254,300,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naypyidaw: MMK 192,300,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Southern Shan State: MMK 164,400,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sagaing Region: MMK 151,100,000<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, during March 2025 alone, MMK 559.9 million in humanitarian aid was directly provided to individuals and communities in urgent need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry further detailed that this MMK 559.9 million in public-donated funds was allocated as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMK 496.3 million for emergency food supplies for 208,756 internally displaced persons (IDPs) who fled their homes;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMK 31.9 million in emergency humanitarian assistance for 135 civilians who lost their lives and 469 who were injured during frontline clashes;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMK 2.5 million for political prisoners and their families;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMK 25.3 million for individuals affected by natural disasters;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMK 1.1 million for vulnerable individuals and their families;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMK 2.8 million for general humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry expressed deep respect and pride in the unwavering spirit and courageous actions of every individual who has stood firm and continued their resistance throughout more than four years of revolution, emphasizing the collective need to persist in solidarity and determination in the ongoing struggle for democratic victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 3. 72 Civilians, Including 6 Children, Killed by Junta Attacks Amid Earthquake Crisis, NUG Reports<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Myanmar was still reeling from the devastating earthquake that struck on March 28, the terrorist military regime continued its violent assaults. According to verified data from the NUG Ministry of Human Rights, between March 28 and April 8 (2:00 PM), the junta carried out a total of 92 air and heavy artillery attacks<\/strong>, resulting in the deaths of 72 civilians<\/strong>, including 6 children under the age of 18<\/strong> and 30 women<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regions most severely affected by these attacks included Sagaing Region and Mandalay Region<\/strong>, each hit 18 times during this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the 92 total attacks, the junta conducted 62 airstrikes<\/strong> across 11 townships, causing 65 deaths<\/strong> and 60 injuries<\/strong>.
Additionally, 30 heavy artillery strikes<\/strong> were launched across 10 townships, leaving 7 civilians dead<\/strong> and 31 injured<\/strong>, according to the NUG’s report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 4. Second EU Relief Flight Arrives in Myanmar with 55 Tons of Critical Supplies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second humanitarian flight carrying 55 tons of critical relief supplies from the European Union\u2019s stockpile<\/strong> has arrived in Myanmar, according to a statement released by the EU Delegation in Yangon on April 9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo assist communities affected by the recent earthquake, the second aircraft transporting 55 tons of emergency relief supplies from the EU’s stockpile has landed in Yangon,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This humanitarian airlift organized by the European Union includes emergency shelter materials, medical aid, and other essential supplies<\/strong> for those in urgent need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Italian humanitarian organization Cesvi Onlus<\/strong>, operating in Myanmar, will oversee the systematic distribution of these supplies to the most affected areas, based on needs assessments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This delivery marks the second shipment under the EU Humanitarian Air Bridge initiative<\/strong>. The first flight, which arrived recently, brought around 80 tons of relief materials<\/strong>, which were handed over to UNICEF for distribution to those in need<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A windstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall struck Lahe Township<\/strong> in Nyaung Lay Pin District<\/strong> at 3:30 PM on April 7<\/strong>, damaging one school building<\/strong>, four homes<\/strong>, and one rice storage barn<\/strong> in Htaik Htoo Village<\/strong>, according to a statement from KNU\u2013Central<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approximately 20 rice sacks<\/strong> were also damaged during the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement further noted that daily targeted attacks by the military junta forces<\/strong> using heavy artillery, drones, and aircraft on villages across Nyaung Lay Pin District have made it even more difficult for local populations to recover from natural disasters. These communities now suffer not only from environmental hardships but also face constant human rights violations<\/strong>, which severely hinder ongoing recovery efforts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a social media post on April 9<\/strong>, Ko Htein Lin<\/strong>, the youngest son of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi<\/strong>, expressed deep concern over his mother\u2019s well-being, saying he has no information about her condition following the recent earthquake<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy mother is still being held in Naypyitaw Prison, isolated from the outside world. I\u2019m extremely worried about her health and safety, especially since I haven\u2019t been able to learn anything about her situation after the earthquake,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi<\/strong>, who will soon turn 80<\/strong>, has been detained by the military regime since their coup on February 1, 2021<\/strong>, and has not been allowed any communication with the outside world since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Union Minister Naw Susanna Hla Hla Soe<\/strong> attended the event, where proceeds from the ministry\u2019s project-related product sales contributed USD 1,780<\/strong> to the fundraising total.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizers expressed deep gratitude to all supporters of the revolution and confirmed that the donated funds will be channeled to aid civilians impacted by both conflict and the recent earthquake<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
