NUG Releases Damage Assessment for the Four Most Affected Regions by the Major Earthquake<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 6<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of April 6, the National Unity Government (NUG) has released a report detailing the damages and casualties in the four regions most severely impacted by the powerful earthquake measuring magnitude 7.7, which struck approximately 16 kilometers northwest of Sagaing city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Naypyidaw Council Area<\/strong>:<br>A total of&nbsp;<strong>478 people were killed<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>835 injured<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>11 reported missing<\/strong>, while&nbsp;<strong>338,803 people were affected<\/strong>. Infrastructure damages include&nbsp;<strong>5,600 houses<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>1,124 religious buildings<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>380 schools<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>2,548 basic infrastructure facilities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mandalay Region<\/strong>:<br>There were&nbsp;<strong>1,808 fatalities<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>654 injuries<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>205 people missing<\/strong>, with&nbsp;<strong>2,249,058 affected individuals<\/strong>. Damages consist of&nbsp;<strong>17,637 houses<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>3,388 religious buildings<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>127 schools<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>1,537 basic infrastructure facilities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sagaing Region<\/strong>:<br>The earthquake claimed&nbsp;<strong>693 lives<\/strong>, left&nbsp;<strong>870 injured<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>2 people missing<\/strong>, affecting&nbsp;<strong>428,761 individuals<\/strong>. A total of&nbsp;<strong>4,745 houses<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>400 religious buildings<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>40 schools<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>505 basic infrastructure facilities<\/strong>&nbsp;were reported damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bago Region<\/strong>:<br>Reports confirm&nbsp;<strong>68 deaths<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>234 injuries<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>258,499 people affected<\/strong>. Property damage includes&nbsp;<strong>465 houses<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>19 religious buildings<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>5 schools<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>11 basic infrastructure facilities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>========================<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc<strong>&nbsp;2. &#8220;The 150th Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Attendance Was Imperative Due to the Earthquake&#8217;s Added Suffering on Top of the Military Council&#8217;s Oppression,&#8221; Says Dr. Win Myat Aye<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 6<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Win Myat Aye, Head of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), stated that the CRPH\u2019s participation in the&nbsp;<strong>150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly<\/strong>&nbsp;was an unavoidable necessity, driven by the need to represent the people who are enduring not only the military council&#8217;s oppression but also the additional devastation caused by the recent earthquake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have been attending the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assemblies since the 146th session. Each time, our participation has been by formal invitation and recognition by the IPU,\u201d said the Union Minister.<br>\u201cThe international parliamentary community has acknowledged CRPH as the legitimate legislature of Myanmar. Consequently, our elected parliamentary representatives have been given opportunities to join and engage in these discussions. No Rescue Group Permitted to Operate Independently in Earthquake Relief Efforts Without Prior Approval, Says Junta\u2019s Deputy Leader Soe Win<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April 6<\/strong><br><strong>Radio NUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myanmar junta\u2019s deputy commander-in-chief Soe Win stated during a special meeting of the military council that&nbsp;<strong>no organization<\/strong>\u2014domestic or international\u2014would be permitted to conduct independent earthquake relief operations unless they first obtained prior authorization. He emphasized that only groups cooperating directly with the military council would be granted permission to operate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRescue and relief groups must not operate independently under any circumstances.
