March 25<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Human rights representatives from Sagaing and Magway regions met with ministers of the National Unity Government (NUG) to present and discuss the on-the-ground situation they are facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the discussion, the Union Minister for Humanitarian and Disaster Management, Dr. Win Myat Aye<\/strong>, delivered the opening speech. The human rights representatives then presented their findings and engaged in discussions with relevant ministries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The topics covered included judicial challenges<\/strong>, interim governance issues<\/strong>, airstrike defense concerns<\/strong>, and human rights education initiatives<\/strong>. The representatives highlighted these critical matters in their reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In response, the attending ministries shared necessary information<\/strong>, collaborative efforts moving forward<\/strong>, and legal policies and procedures<\/strong> in an open and constructive discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the session, the Deputy Minister for Humanitarian and Disaster Management, Dr. Ngai Tam Maung<\/strong>, expressed gratitude and formally concluded the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 2. Political Prisoners in Myanmar Face Fatal Consequences Due to Lack of Proper Healthcare<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP)<\/strong> reported that political prisoners detained in Myanmar\u2019s prisons are experiencing fatalities<\/strong> due to inadequate healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One such case involved Ko Thiha<\/strong>, a political prisoner held in Mandalay\u2019s Obo Prison<\/strong>. He suffered from throat cancer<\/strong> but was denied adequate medical care<\/strong>. On March 21, 2025, at approximately 4:00 AM<\/strong>, he passed away in prison. Although his family was informed of his death, authorities did not return his body<\/strong> to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ko Thiha was arrested in 2023<\/strong> by the military regime and charged under Counterterrorism Law Sections 52(a) and 50(j)<\/strong>. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the military coup, a total of 28,924 individuals<\/strong> have been arrested in connection with the resistance. Among them, 22,133<\/strong> remain in detention, with 10,709<\/strong> having been sentenced to imprisonment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 3. UN Human Rights Council Urged Not to Turn a Blind Eye to Myanmar\u2019s Situation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Tom Andrews, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Myanmar<\/strong>, has urged UN Human Rights Council member states and UN agencies<\/strong> not to ignore Myanmar\u2019s crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his report presented at the Human Rights Council<\/strong>, Mr. Tom Andrews clearly and forcefully<\/strong> outlined the ongoing human rights violations, calling for international action. His report detailed the worsening humanitarian situation<\/strong> and emphasized the need for urgent global attention<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Myanmar\u2019s NUG Minister for Human Rights, U Aung Myo Min<\/strong>, reiterated this message, emphasizing that the junta has intensified airstrikes targeting civilians since 2024<\/strong>, including deliberate attacks on hospitals, schools, and religious sites<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the NUG\u2019s Ministry of Human Rights, the military regime has escalated indiscriminate aerial bombings<\/strong> and brutal assaults on civilian infrastructure<\/strong>\u2014a concern that Mr. Tom Andrews strongly highlighted in his report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 4. TNLA Reports 30 Drug Users Arrested in Namkham Township Within Three Months<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

March 24<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ta\u2019ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported that 30 drug users were arrested in Namkham Township over the past three months. Similarly, the Ta\u2019ang Police Force of the Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF\/TNLA) apprehended five drug users in Namkham Township, under the jurisdiction of Brigade 4 in Ta\u2019angland, during March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 13, a 33-year-old man named U A Hla was arrested at a checkpoint in Kyu Saw while undergoing inspection. Likewise, on March 17, Ta\u2019ang Police, in cooperation with local authorities, arrested four individuals\u2014Sai Kham Pan, U Maung Kyaw, U Aik Aung, and Aik Kam\u2014in Man Sar village, Pan Lon village tract, after receiving reports that they were using methamphetamine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TNLA stated that these individuals would be prosecuted in accordance with drug laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 5. Battalion No. 2 in Dawei District Launches “Emergency Life-Saving Vehicle” Campaign for Injured Comrades<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

March 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Battalion No. 2 of the People\u2019s Defense Force (PDF) in Dawei District has launched the “Emergency Life-Saving Vehicle” campaign to provide immediate transport for injured comrades in frontline situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The battalion reported that an emergency vehicle is urgently needed to fulfill this role. The campaign will run from March 25 to April 25, during which public donations will be collected. The funds raised will be used to purchase an emergency vehicle worth approximately 500,000 Thai Baht to aid wounded resistance fighters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udccc\ud83d\udccc 6. Myanmar Revolution Thingyan to Be Celebrated in South Korea<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

March 25<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Myanmar Revolution Thingyan Festival will take place on April 13, 2025, at the plaza in front of Bupyeong Station in South Korea. The event is organized by the Korea-based Committee Against Military Dictatorship and aims to raise funds to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by the conflict in Myanmar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As in previous years, a variety of delicious Myanmar traditional snacks will be prepared and sold by donors and revolutionary groups to raise funds. The festival will feature music performances, dance, and traditional drumming by Rainbow Band and prominent vocalists, as well as creative performances by Korean youth,” the organizers stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All proceeds from food sales, after deducting event expenses, will be donated to support IDPs affected by the revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
