That students\u2019 strike led the whole country to take part in  the historic people\u2019s uprising \u201c8.8.88\u201d, which was able to topple the  dictators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 1.15; text-indent: 0pt; color: #000000; direction: ltr; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri; padding-bottom: 10pt\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana\">The entire public unanimously agreed to honor that day \u201c13<\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: super; color: #000000; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana\">th<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 10pt; font-family: Verdana\">  March\u201d as Burma Human Rights Day in its first anniversary in 1989.  Since then, Burmese pro-democracy organizations at home and overseas  have been organizing yearly ceremonies in commemoration of that day,  also condemning the succession of those dictators.
