Since the coup in 2021, at least 4 journalists have been killed by the military in complete impunity.<\/p>\n<p>So on this international day to end impunity for crimes against journalists, we remember and pay tribute to all the journalists in Myanmar who have risked their lives and their freedom to provide vital news and information for the people of Myanmar.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 50 journalists are still in detention and 22 media workers have now been unjustly convicted since the coup. This includes the BBC Media Action freelance producer Htet Htet Khine, who was last month sentenced to six years hard labour.<\/p>\n<p>The UK condemns any violation of media freedom and believes those abusing or restricting media freedom must be held to account.\u00a0 We will continue to support a range of emergency protection services to help the safety of journalists and human rights defenders in Myanmar and across the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5 id=\"NEWS06\" class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">A junta policeman was killed and another injured when the Natogyi People\u2019s Defense Force bombarded the Natogyi City Police Station with a drone<\/h5>\n<p>On November 2, the Natogyi People\u2019s Defense Force, Myingyan District Batallion-4 of the People\u2019s Defense Force of the MOD, released a military report.<\/p>\n<p>It states, \u201cOn November 1, at around 8:00 a.m., the Natogyi People\u2019s Defense Force bombed the Natogyi City Police Station with a drone, killing a policeman who was guarding the station gate and injuring another one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Natogyi People\u2019s Defense Force (Myingyan District Battalion-4) is a revolutionary force that is resisting the military council.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5 id=\"NEWS07\" class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">The third campaign of \u201cFor Our People,\u201d initiated by the NUGPay family, the anti-snake venom fundraising program, raised over 170 million kyats<\/h5>\n<p>On November 2, the NUGPay family announced that, with the contribution of the revolutionary people, the NUGPay family had raised 17,895,300 DMMK in the third fundraising campaign of \u201cFor Our People,\u201d the anti-snake venom fundraising program.<\/p>\n<p>The NUGPay family stated that the funds raised were donated to the Ministry of Health of the National Unity Government.<\/p>\n<p>NUGpay currently has about 15,000 users and it is the only financial system free from the control of the military dictator.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5 id=\"NEWS08\" class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">In Yangon, pickpockets commit systematic crimes on buses<\/h5>\n<p>In October, the people of Yangon unanimously said that more gangs committed pickpocketing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMainly during rush hours in the morning and evening when people are going to and coming back from work. When one of them [pickpockets] picks a pocket from a passenger, the other three or four monitor, and the surrounding people do not dare say anything even if they see it.
