and that research, technology, law, and assistance from various sectors are needed for the drafting of the federal constitution, which is the main task of the Ministry of Federal Union Affairs; and the Union Minister asked for continued cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>The Korean Democracy Foundation (KDF) was established in 2001 as a non-profit organization affiliated with the South Korean Ministry of the Interior and Safety, with the purpose of contributing to the development of democracy by carrying out projects to memorialize the democratization movement of Korea, such as documenting the historic democratic achievements of Korea in a systematic way.<\/p>\n<p>At present, KDF has been able to collect about 1.9 million documents related to Korean democracy movements and is collaborating with civil society activists on public education programs and discussions related to the spread of democracy.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h5 id=\"NEWS02\" class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">The NUG Minister of Federal Union Affairs, Dr. Lian Hmung Sakhong, had a meeting with the Chairman of the National Research Council, Korea<\/h5>\n<p>On October 19, Dr. Lian Hmung Sakhong, Union Minister of Federal Union Affairs of the National Unity Government, met with Mr. Jung Hae Gu, Chairman of the National Research Council (NRC) for Economic, Humanities and Social Sciences, Korea to discuss the issues of Myanmar.<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting, the Union Minister expressed his deep gratitude to the National Research Council, Korea, for its enthusiastic support regarding the current affairs of Myanmar and stated that the inability of young people, university students, and children to continue their education due to the inhumane actions of the terrorist military led by Min Aung Hlaing in Myanmar is of particular concern, and that the National Unity Government considers education as a key issue for the future of Myanmar. Furthermore, the Union Minister clarified the ways in which the State Research Council of Korea can provide support for Myanmar.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the National Research Council (NRC), Korea, Mr. Jung Hae Gu, also said that the NRC has been continuously monitoring the issues of Myanmar\u2019s democracy for a long time; that he is particularly saddened by the situation in Myanmar after the coup; and that he is looking for ways to support Myanmar\u2019s education, which is being destroyed by the terrorist military council. Mr. Jung Hae Gu expressed his gratitude to the Minister for the opportunity to meet him in person, and both sides had a fruitful discussion on the issues regarding the future cooperation between the NUG government and the NRC, Korea.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5 id=\"NEWS03\" class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun says that people\u2019s freedom of expression and freedom of the press and the activities of journalists have been severely restricted since the illegal military coup d\u2019\u00e9tat<\/h5>\n<p>U Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of Myanmar to the United Nations, stated at the Discussion relating to information at the Fourth Committee of the 77<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Session of the United Nations General Assembly held on October 20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMedia plays an important role in transmitting people\u2019s voices to the international community and making their voices heard by relevant authorities. We share the view that by doing so, it will help bring perpetrators of serious crimes to justice. Regrettably, in my country of Myanmar, freedom of expression, freedom of the press and the activities of journalists have been severely restricted by the fascist military since the illegal military coup in February 2021. We are all witnessing the inhumane military\u2019s deliberate attacks on media personnel and silence and prosecute those who engage in anti-military activities and promote democracy and human rights.\u201d\u2014 Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun stated.<\/p>\n<p>Within 20 months after the military coup, the military revoked the publication licenses of 5 independent media organizations, invaded the offices and destroyed equipment, and forced a total of 12 media outlets to shut down. In addition, it unjustly detained 150 local and foreign journalists and news media personnel.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5 id=\"NEWS04\" class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">Two civilians were killed and more than 10 were injured by the fierce firing on land and air of the terrorist military in Kawkareik, Karen State<\/h5>\n<p>According to the Albino Tiger Battalion-1, two civilians were killed and more than 10 were injured by the fierce firing on land and air of the terrorist military as the police station and military council-controlled offices in Kawkareik, Karen State, were attacked by defense forces.<\/p>\n<p>It is said that in the battle between the KNLA joint forces and the junta troops that started on the morning of October 21, the reinforcements from the junta air force launched aerial attacks with 2 fighter jets and 2 helicopters starting at 10:00 am.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe battle is very fierce,\u201d confirmed Major Saw Win Zaw of the Albino Tiger Battalion-1.<\/p>\n<p>Although the battle took place in the junta\u2019s offices area at the No-7 Residential Ward, where the junta Police Station, Prison, junta offices, and 97<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Infantry Battalion of the junta army are located, the airstrikes were reported to have been launched at Karen villages, such as Pyar Pin Village, Kaung Hmu Village, Tadar-U Village, Khaneim Mu Village, and Naung Kai Village.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe keep hearing the planes dropping bombs,\u201d a comrade from the PDF allied forces said.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report, at present, 5 junta police have been killed and three weapons have been seized.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of aerial bombing by the military junta, a woman and a man were killed, and more than 16 people, including 6 children, have been injured [as of October 21 morning]. At 5:11 a.m. in the morning, four soldiers were killed while attacking the security gate of the junta soldiers stationed at Myinmu high school with a mine. The operations were conducted last night and this morning,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p>The attacks were carried out by the 7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Battalion of the Myingyan District of the ZERO Guerrilla Force and its squadron, the TRUE FIGHTER.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5 id=\"NEWS07\" class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\">The People\u2019s Defense Forces point out that they want NUG Pay to be made as a system of money withdrawal that is easy and convenient<\/h5>\n<p>When asked for feedback in October, some of the local people\u2019s defense forces said that although NUG Pay is easy, fast and safe to deposit and transfer money, there are some difficulties with withdrawing money.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we needed an urgent withdrawal of money for the purpose of assistance, the person superior to the agent told me to fill out a form and wait for 24 hours. Once, it was inconvenient when we withdrew over 30 lakh kyats,\u201d said one of the people\u2019s defense forces.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, he also pointed out that the customer service of some of NUG Pay\u2019s agents need to be improved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMainly, they should be smooth when dealing with revolutionary forces. We use the money donated by the people for the revolution.
