\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Ko Lay Lwin aka Ko Lay, one of 88 Generation Student Leaders and former political prisoner was gravely ill and now receiving medical treatment, sources told. Since January of this year, he had been infected with lung disease and suffering also with several infection and illness and later admitted to a hospital in Chiang Mai. His close friends and political associates were giving care and support.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Ko Lay Lwin was one of the university students \u00a0<\/span>who initiated 8888 democratic uprising in Burma last 20 years ago who led the movement in Mandalay, second largest city of the country. He later joined underground movement after the coup by the military regime, was arrested in 1989 and sent to prison for 5 years. He fled to Thai-Burma border concerning of his safety inside Burma. He joined and worked actively in Burmese political and human-rights association at the border area. He was an active member of Assistance Association for Political Prisoners \u2013 Burma.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Currently his health situation was worsening and all his medial care cost was shared by his close friends and political associates formed with a small group to raise the fund and foot the bill.
