9th<\/sup> Anniversary of Passing of Zaw (Pyinmanar), a Burmese poet<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n MoeMaKa Reporter (Rangoon)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n March 4, 2009<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>On last March 1st<\/sup> of 2009, at \u201cAung Metta\u201d hall of \u201cThudhammayon\u201d monastery, in Shwedagon Pagoda compound, remaining family members, fellow poets and friends had hosted \u201cSwan Offering\u201d to monks at 9th<\/sup> year anniversary of his passing.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Among the guests, some poets such as Nyunt Wai, Aung Zin Min, Ko Khar (Kungyankone) and Thura Zaw recited poems honoring the event. It had started with lunch at 10 am and finished around 2 pm with poem recitals.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Zaw (Pyinmanar) was one of the renowned members of Moe Wai Poet group contemporary with Maung Lay Aung, Maung Thin Khai, Tha Kut Ni and Maung Thwe Thit. Since early era of Burmese socialist regime, he wrote poems expressing social issues critical to free press and free expression. Some of his well-known poems were \u201cPyinmanar Mettazar\u201d, \u201cManar Lozayar Kaung De Oo Kaung\u201d, \u201cMi Kyon\u201d and \u201cHeman Da Dat Pyar\u201d according to Aung Way, poet in exile, told MoeMaKa.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cHis birth place was \u201cThabyay Hla\u201d village at the entrance to \u201cPyinmanar\u201d town.
