KIA Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lt. Gen. Gwan Maw apologized to private boat owners whose vessels were reportedly forcibly requisitioned by the military and later damaged during fighting.
He expressed regret over their losses and asked the owners for understanding, saying that some had lost as many as four vessels. The reported losses were estimated at between 800 million and 2 billion kyats.
The military reportedly used numerous civilian-owned vessels while transporting reinforcements to Bhamaw, and around 20 vessels, including military vessels, were reportedly damaged in attacks by KIA and allied forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n2. Seven Civilians Reportedly Killed in Airstrikes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Seven civilians were reportedly killed in military airstrikes in Nyaung-U, Indaw, and Ponnagyun.
In Nyaung-U Township, two elderly women were reportedly killed and several others injured after repeated airstrikes on Manlei Village. Around 10 houses were also damaged.
In Indaw Township, three civilians were reportedly killed and several others injured during airstrikes. Fuel tanker trucks were also reportedly destroyed.
In Ponnagyun Township, two civilians were reportedly killed after fighter jets and Y-12 aircraft dropped nearly 20 bombs on Fak Kya Village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n3. More Than 140 Houses and a Monastery Reportedly Burned in Letpadan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
A military column of approximately 400 troops reportedly burned more than 140 civilian homes and a monastery in eastern Letpadan Township, Bago Region.
According to the Letpadan Township People\u2019s Defense Force, 40 homes in Taungtan Myaing Village, 20 homes in the Yoma area, and 82 homes belonging to displaced civilians were reportedly destroyed.
A drone attack also reportedly killed two civilians and injured two others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n4. Villagers Flee Amid Continued Airstrikes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Residents have reportedly fled entire villages in parts of Magway Region, northern Shan State, and Kachin State following repeated military airstrikes.
In Pakokku Township, six civilian houses were reportedly destroyed after helicopter and fighter-jet attacks.
In Mabein Township, more than 40 bombs were reportedly dropped on gold-mining operations, destroying three sites and a backhoe.
In Shwegu Township, a monastery in Yelay Village was reportedly burned down, while further drone and air attacks were reported against civilian areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n5. KIO Warns Residents in Laiza of Possible Air Attacks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The KIO has warned residents in Laiza to take extra precautions after military aircraft reportedly flew over the city and the China-Myanmar border.
A Y-12 reconnaissance aircraft reportedly flew once over the area, while fighter jets flew over twice on September 23.
KIO authorities advised residents to prepare shelters, avoid large gatherings, and avoid unnecessary travel because of the potential danger from airstrikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n6. Kim Aris Asks to Meet His Mother<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Kim Aris, also known as Ko Htein Lin, reportedly sent a letter through the Myanmar Embassy in London to Min Aung Hlaing, asking to meet his mother, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
Kim said he has not been allowed to speak with or meet his mother, although an ICRC visit previously confirmed that she was alive.
He said he wants to see and speak with his mother and for their family to be able to communicate normally. He is also continuing the \u201cFree Her\u201d<\/strong> campaign calling for her release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n7. Captured Soldier Makes Claims About Rakhine Front<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
A captured soldier from Infantry Battalion 252 reportedly said that senior military officers were ordering lower-ranking soldiers to fight to the death on the Rakhine front.
He claimed that soldiers were suffering heavy casualties and that seriously wounded soldiers who could not receive medical treatment were sometimes ordered to be killed.
Meanwhile, three soldiers and one family member reportedly surrendered to resistance forces in Kan Township, Sagaing Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n8. Time Reports on Min Aung Hlaing\u2019s Relations With the West<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Time Magazine reported that Min Aung Hlaing is seeking to rebuild relations with Western countries following his first interview with a Western media organization since the 2021 coup.
During the interview, he reportedly discussed his position as president and his interest in golf. Time said he avoided directly answering some questions about human rights, drug trafficking, and detainees.
The magazine also discussed Myanmar\u2019s strategic importance because of its natural resources and its position between the United States and China.
Myanmar\u2019s military authorities later condemned the article and accused Time of violating journalistic ethics and publishing biased criticism.
