My Life Will Go On (26) by Junior Win

When the time came, I saw lecturers and associate professors and professors of various Institutes, and colleges had already arrived. (Except my professor and my examiners. They did not come. They did not attend my seminar although they were invited. It meant they did want approve my seminar. They should have known I do not accept my thesis defence a week ago however it was finished on the way they wished.)

(‘Rose by any other name smell as sweet, .. ‘)

I was now in the same room where my thesis defence was done a week ago. I heard my professor’s warning, ‘I only allowed you to do the seminor, not your thesis defence.’ What’s in a name? (As for me, today is my thesis defence. I said aloud in my heart.) My friends also arrived to hear my presentation. I started my presentation………

After I had finished my presentation, the audience asked me a lot of questions. I could not answer all their questions, but I was so excited for what they asked and their interest to my thesis. Some of them understood my thesis very well, because their old thesis was the origin of my thesis. Yes, I could not have done without their hints for further research at the conclusion of my thesis. Some lecturers wished me good luck for my thesis defence and they said my presentation was half good in my coming thesis defend. They all said that the examiners could not fail to give me distinction. Yes, by the rule and regulation, the seminars always come before the thesis defend. But they did not know my thesis defence was already celebrated.

But as my professor had already said to me, it would not change the result however I received good impression from this audience. It seemed most of them do not even know that my thesis defend was already over and I got the ordinary pass. Well, let it be. Let them find out for themselves. As for me, I am happy to have had this chance. My grandpa used to say, ‘I always have this unshakable belief that everything happens for the best, and all misfortunes are but blessing in disguise.’ Even in the darkest hours of his life, he never wavered. How I wish I have his kind of confidence. I miss you, grandpa. If you were alive, you would fully understand what I felt now. My conscience was now clear for having Master degree. Having clear conscience is the most important thing in my life. Next day I submit my thesis to the Professor’s desk.
