5 Children from Mae La Refugee Camp suffered food poisoning, one dead

          One woman and five children were found suffering from food poisoning in Zone B, Ward 2 of Mae La Refugee Camp in north of Mae Sot town on 10th of April. It was learnt that one of the children died and remains still in serious condition.

          According to camp official, the (KIC) learnt that on the day in the afternoon, Naw Khin Po, 50 year old woman made home made fried flour-bean food and shared with 5 children. After an hour later, they started to feel vomiting and shiver so that they were sent to Mae Sot hospital immediately in the evening.

          One child named Saw Yin Aye died at the hospital around 5 AM next day and the remains, Saw Aye ( 5 year), Naw Ei Ei Soe (5 Year) and other two were still critically ill, told doctors from the hospital.

          It was the first time ever happening of food poisoning in this refugee camp which housed 50 thousand refugees from Burma at Thai-Burma border.
