“Tabayarlay” Burmese Literary Award hosted at family’s home

To uphold the legacy of “Tawbayarlay”, a late Burmese nationalist and last of Burmese royal blood line, the family members were awarding “Tawbalarlay” Burmese literary award to outstanding Burmese writers since 2006. However, for this year event of 3rd anniversary of award ceremony, the authority denied the event to host in public place at City Star Hotel on February 24th, 2009 without providing any reasons. The award ceremony had to be taken place at the home of her daughter, Dewi Thantzin.

Burmese senior politicians, editors, writers, poets, artists and all walks of life from Burmese literary and news circle attended the event and it was learnt that for best Burmese short-stories book award went to Nyo Tun Lu from Mandalay and for the best Magazine publication award to “Padauk Pwintthit” for the year of 2008.
